Which Zebra ribbon for which job

Start from the label you print

Your label and what it must survive decide the Zebra ribbon: wax, wax/resin or resin. Each job below names the grades we suggest.

Paper labels for shipping and general use

Wax ribbons: Zebra recommends them for paper labels, fast printing and little exposure to chemicals or rubbing.

Consider: 1600, 6000, 2000, 2100, 5319

Product and carton labels that get handled

Wax/resin ribbons: for top-coated paper and matte synthetic labels with moderate to harsh rubbing or chemicals. Zebra rates the 3300 strong against rubbing but weaker against solvents.

Consider: 6100, 3200, 3300, 3600

Synthetic labels, chemicals and heat

Resin ribbons: for synthetic labels and some top-coated labels and tags exposed to harsh chemicals.

Consider: 6200, 5095, 4800, 4400

Outdoor and extreme environments

Zebra's 5100 is made for ultra-high temperatures and harsh outdoor conditions; Image Lock for extreme environments without a laminate.

Consider: 5100, Image Lock

ZD421 cartridge printers

The ZD421 cartridge model takes Zebra ribbon cartridges, not ribbon rolls. Tell us the model and we confirm the cartridge part number for India in your quotation.

Consider: Zebra ZD421

Print engines on long runs

Zebra's 2100 wax is made for high-volume runs on industrial printers and print engines. Tell us the engine model and label width and we confirm the roll and part number for India in your quotation.

Consider: 2100

Reading a part number

How Zebra ribbon part numbers are built

The usual pattern

Take 05319BK08305, the sample part number on Zebra's Asia Pacific 5319 page: 05319 names the grade (5319 wax) and BK the colour (black; the red sample is 05319RD08305). We confirm the full code for your printer and roll in the quotation. Some sample codes on Zebra's Asia Pacific pages start with SAM, such as SAM06100BK11045 for 6100.

Why we confirm the code

The full code depends on the roll your printer takes, and Zebra publishes no full Asia Pacific or India list. Send us the code on your current ribbon box, or your printer and label width, and we confirm the exact Zebra part number for India in your quotation.

Questions buyers ask

Zebra ribbon FAQ

Genuine Zebra ribbon or an alternative?

Both. We supply genuine Zebra ribbons by part number on request, and we can also offer our own ribbon of the same type (wax, wax/resin or resin) as an alternative. Tell us which you prefer when you ask for a quote.

Does Zebra publish ribbon part numbers for India?

Not as a full list: Zebra's Asia Pacific pages show a sample part number for some grades, and zebra.com has no India site. Send us your printer, label width and roll length, or the code on your current ribbon box, and we confirm the exact Zebra part number for India in your quotation.

Which width should I order?

At least as wide as your label (Zebra recommends this to protect the printhead) and no wider than your printer takes. Our ribbon fit table lists the ribbon width range of every printer in our catalogue.

Ink on the outside or inside?

Zebra's ZT411, ZT421, ZT610 and ZT620 take ribbon coated on the outside as standard, with an optional spindle for ink-side-in ribbon. Tell us your printer model and we will quote the right winding.

Can I get a special width or length?

Send us the width, length and core you need and the printer model, and we check what can be supplied in India before we quote.

What is the price of Zebra ribbons in India?

Ask our team for today's competitive price. Share your requirement and budget, and we will help you choose the right grade and size and send a written quotation with current pricing and delivery time.

Send us the part number or your printer

Share the Zebra part number you use today, or your printer model, label size and monthly use, and we will quote genuine Zebra ribbon or an alternative of the same type.

Ask us for label or ribbon samples for your printer; we tell you what we can send.
