Ordering supplies
The printer decides the ribbon length, core and width, and the largest label roll it takes. The ribbon and label pages list these for the label printers in our catalogue, and our Zebra, TSC, Ricoh and inkanto ribbon pages list each maker's grades.
Label width and height, the gap between labels, the core size of the roll and labels per roll. A photo or sample of the label you use today helps.
What the label sticks to (carton, bottle, metal, cloth, a curved or cold surface) and what it has to survive (rubbing, chemicals, heat, sunlight, water) decide the label material and the ribbon.
Labels and ribbons are repeat orders. Tell us your monthly use and we will quote for the quantity you actually need.

Three things have to match the printer: the label width within its width range, the roll's outside diameter within the largest roll it holds, and a core size it takes. Our label widths and roll sizes table gives these figures for the printers on our site; for any other printer, send us the model.
The printer sets the ribbon's width range, length and core, and whether it takes ribbon with the ink on the outside or the inside; the label material sets the grade (wax, wax/resin or resin). See the ribbon sizes by printer, or send us the printer model and the label.
Only for thermal transfer. Direct thermal labels darken under the printhead's heat, so they print without a ribbon and suit labels that are read within months and stay indoors, such as courier and shipping labels.
