How a service call works

From your call to a working device

  1. You log the call

Tell us the model, the serial number and what is wrong. A photo or short video helps.

  2. We call you

Our support team checks the details and the warranty, and agrees with you whether we visit your site or you bring the device to Chennai.

  3. You know the cost first

We find the fault and tell you what it needs. Paid work starts only when you say yes.

  4. We fix it and check it

We repair, test with your own labels or barcodes where we can, and hand it back working.

If a barcode stops scanning or printing, call or WhatsApp us: we check the printer, label, ribbon and scanner settings with you remotely, and visit or take the unit in when that does not fix it.

Something not working?

Log a service call

Tell us about the device and the problem. The more we know now, the sooner we can put it right.

Fields marked with a star are required.

About you

We will call this number about the service call.

About the device

On the label at the back or underneath. Leave blank if you cannot find it now.

We service the brands we sell, whether you bought the device from us or elsewhere.

Helps us check the warranty.

About the problem

If work has stopped, we can come to you. If it can wait, carry-in usually costs less.

A JPG or PNG photo (large photos are made smaller before sending), or an MP4 video up to 5 MB.

Service charges: what to expect

Repairs are free while the device is under the maker's warranty or covered by a service contract with Allmark. Outside that, service is chargeable, and you stay in control of the cost:

  • You know the cost before we repair. After we look at the device, we tell you what is wrong, what it needs and what it will cost. The repair starts only when you say yes.
  • Repair or replace: we tell you which makes sense. If a repair would cost close to a new unit, or the model is no longer supported by its maker, we say so and show you both options. The choice is yours.
  • Visit or carry-in: you choose. If work has stopped, we can come to your site. If it can wait, bringing it to our Chennai office usually costs less. We agree the way that suits your urgency and budget.
  • If a visit or inspection is charged, we tell you first. You will know before we come.
  • Whoever sold you the device, we can help. We service the brands we sell, even if you bought the device elsewhere.

What we service

Brands and devices we service

Label printers, barcode scanners, mobile computers and POS hardware from the brands we sell: Zebra, Honeywell, Newland, TSC, Godex and TVS. Printhead replacement, calibration, setup and connection to your software are part of the work we do.

Older models we still service

We still service the TSC TTP-244 Pro label printer and the Zebra LS2208 scanner. TSC India supports the TTP-244 Pro until 31 December 2031. Log a call as for any other model.

Zebra GK420, GX420, GX430 and GT800

Zebra has ended its support for these printers, so a dependable repair is no longer possible for them. As published on Zebra's support pages, support ended for the GT800 support page on zebra.com (opens in a new tab) on 31 March 2023; the GK420 support page on zebra.com (opens in a new tab), GX420 support page on zebra.com (opens in a new tab) and GX430 support page on zebra.com (opens in a new tab) on 28 February 2025 (Asia-Pacific dates). In the GK and GX names, a 2 means 203 dpi and a 3 means 300 dpi: the GX430 is the 300 dpi version of the GX420. If yours has stopped or is close to it, the most reliable path is its current replacement, the Zebra ZD421 or ZD621, set up for your labels and software.

Another older model? Send us the model and serial number. If its parts are no longer made, we say so and suggest a current model; see our discontinued models guide.

Save a round trip

What to send with a service call

  • The model and serial number, from the label on the back or underside of the device.
  • What happened, when it started, and any error light or message on the screen.
  • A photo or short video of the problem, or of a faulty label or scan.
  • For a printer: the label and ribbon you use. For a scanner: a sample of the barcode it will not read.
  • Your site address and the person we should contact.

Before you call

Quick checks that fix common problems

Simple checks we use first. If they do not solve it, log a call.

Printer skips labels or prints blank ones

Calibrate the printer after loading a new roll, and check that the label size set in the driver matches your software. A printer set to thermal transfer needs a ribbon; a ribbon loaded the wrong way round also prints blank. More on ribbons: ribbon wrinkle and smudge guide.

Print is faint or has white lines

Clean the printhead with isopropyl alcohol, as the maker's guide describes; Zebra's ZD421 guide says to clean it each time you load a new roll. Gaps in the print that stay after cleaning point to a damaged printhead (Zebra's ZT411 guide calls it "long tracks of missing print"): log a call, or see printheads by printer model.

Scanner beeps but nothing appears, or types wrong characters

Scan into Notepad. If the code appears there, the scanner works and the setting belongs in your software. Wrong characters usually mean the scanner's keyboard country does not match your computer. More fixes: scanner troubleshooting guide.

Cordless scanner stops sending scans

Charge it in its base, check the base is connected to the computer, and stay within range. If it still will not connect, it may need pairing again with the barcode in its guide.

"Head Open" or "Carriage Open" on the printer

The printhead or cover is not fully closed. Close it until the latches snap shut. If the alert stays with the cover closed, the head-open switch or sensor needs service: log a call.

Ribbon error, but you use labels without a ribbon

The printer is set to thermal transfer and is looking for a ribbon. Set the print method to direct thermal in the printer or its driver, then calibrate. See the label printer setup steps.

The printer says "Replace Printhead" or "Head Element Out"

Some Zebra printers warn when the printhead is near the end of its life or has a failed element. Order the printhead before the printer stops; we can fit it on site or at our Chennai office.

A mobile computer scans in the demo app but not in yours

On Zebra mobile computers, scans reach an app through DataWedge; an app usually needs its own DataWedge profile before it gets scans. Other makers have their own scan settings. Tell us the app and the model, and we will set it up. More fixes: mobile computer troubleshooting guide.

After you buy

Warranty and service contracts

Maker warranty

Warranty terms are set by each maker and differ by model and part. In India, Zebra covers printheads for 3 months or 30 km of printing, and the ZD230A for one year. Send the serial number with every service call so we can check its warranty.

Service contracts

Ask our team for the terms of a service contract for your devices. Tell us the models and how many you use.

Printheads

Printer stopped because of the printhead?

We supply printheads for all the printers we sell and service, whoever sold you the printer. Many are in stock in Chennai; others are ordered in for you, which usually takes 2 to 3 weeks. Call us first when a printer has stopped: we check stock before you order, and can fit it for you.

Questions buyers ask

Do you service printers and scanners bought from another supplier?

Yes. We service the brands we sell, Zebra, Honeywell, Newland, TSC, Godex and TVS, whoever sold you the device.

Do you come to our site?

We can, when work has stopped. If it can wait, bringing the device to our Chennai office usually costs less. We agree the way that suits your urgency and budget.

What does a repair cost?

Repairs are free while the device is under the maker's warranty or a service contract with Allmark. Outside that, we tell you what is wrong and what it will cost before any paid work, and the repair starts only when you say yes.

How do I know if my device is under warranty?

Send us the serial number from the label on the device, with the invoice number or purchase date if you have it, and we will check.

Can you replace the printhead on my label printer?

Yes. Send the printer model and serial number; we confirm the right printhead, check stock and can fit it. See printheads by printer model.
