Why the PX940
The PX940 is Honeywell's high-performance 4-inch industrial printer for operations where an unreadable barcode means a returned shipment, a rejected pallet or a penalty from a customer. Honeywell sells two versions: the PX940V with an integrated label verifier, and the PX940A without it. Honeywell's quick start guide calls these the PX940 Verifier and the PX940 Productivity.
On the PX940V a 600 dpi verifier with a 660 nm light reads each barcode across a 108 mm scan width as the label comes out. Honeywell states it reports pass or fail and an ANSI grade from 0.0 (F) to 4.0 (A); a label below the threshold you set is voided and printed again.
Print registration is up to ±0.2 mm, and a dual label-stop sensor helps place print on small labels edge to edge. Honeywell gives a minimum label length of 3 mm in tear-off mode, 6 mm in rewind mode and 12.7 mm in self-strip (peel) mode.
203 dpi prints shipping and carton labels at up to 350 mm/s (14 ips). 300 dpi runs at up to 300 mm/s (12 ips), and 600 dpi, for very small codes and fine text, at up to 150 mm/s (6 ips). Print width is up to 108 mm at 203 dpi.
Label rolls up to 212.7 mm (8.375 in) in diameter on a 3-inch core, and ribbons of about 450 m on a 1-inch core, either ink in or ink out. Wax, mid-range and resin ribbons are supported.
Runs Fingerprint, Direct Protocol, IPL (203 and 300 dpi only), DPL and ZSim2 (ZPL-II) emulation, plus XML for SAP AII and Oracle WMS. Drivers for Windows (InterDriver) and Linux (CUPS), Honeywell device types for SAP, and support in BarTender, NiceLabel and Teklynx LabelView.
An all-metal print mechanism, a printhead that is easy to change and a platen roller that changes without tools. A 3.5-inch colour touch screen, a side-loading media path, and Operational Intelligence software that reports printer health across a fleet.

A PX940 that runs a production line should sit on a voltage stabiliser or online UPS, which also rides out dips and cuts. Honeywell rates it at 100 to 240 V AC, 50 to 60 Hz, which covers India's 50 Hz mains.
Run the PX940 in an air-conditioned room, not at an open dock. Honeywell rates it for +5 °C to +40 °C and 20% to 85% humidity, non-condensing.
The PX940V checks the print quality of QR codes on API and medicine labels; the data in the code is still your system's job. It verifies QR Code and Data Matrix, and Honeywell states its 2D verification conforms to ISO/IEC 15415-2011, with a minimum cell size of 10 mil (0.254 mm).
The PX940V verifies EAN-13, GS1-128 and ITF-14 to ISO/IEC 15416-2016, down to a 10 mil (0.254 mm) bar. GS1 India issues the EAN-13 product barcodes that start with 890. At 203 dpi one dot is 0.125 mm (25.4 / 203), so a 10 mil bar is about 2 dots. At 300 dpi it is about 3 dots of 0.085 mm.
Plan a PX940 line on wired Ethernet, and ask us before you count on Wi-Fi. Ethernet 10/100, USB and RS-232 are built in. Honeywell's PX940 accessory guide lists no Wi-Fi kit for India.

The PX940 price depends on the resolution you choose (203, 300 or 600 dpi), the options you add and the quantity. We can quote the labels and ribbon with it. Both print 4-inch labels at up to 14 ips. Choose the PX940V when every barcode must be graded before it ships: it verifies as it prints and reprints failed labels, and registration is ±0.2 mm against ±0.5 mm on the PM45. Choose the PM45 for RFID, LTE, a 406 dpi printhead or a lighter 12.1 kg printer.
On the PX940V a 600 dpi scanner reads each barcode after printing. Honeywell states it gives pass or fail and an ANSI grade from 0.0 to 4.0, voids labels below your threshold and prints them again. Reports go to the web page, a USB drive, FTP/SFTP or your software through VII. It checks print quality, not whether the data is correct.
Honeywell gives a maximum verification speed of 250 mm/s (10 ips) at 203 and 300 dpi and 150 mm/s (6 ips) at 600 dpi, against a top print speed of 350 mm/s at 203 dpi. Verification is also switched off while a C# smart-printing app runs. Tell us your label size and hourly volume so we can size the line.
The PX940 runs ZSim2 (ZPL-II) emulation and DPL alongside Honeywell's Fingerprint, Direct Protocol and IPL (IPL on 203 and 300 dpi only). Honeywell also names the PX940 as the replacement for its H-Class printers. Emulation can differ in small details such as fonts, so send us a sample format with your quote request.
