Which TSC ribbon for which job
Your label and what it must survive decide the TSC grade. Each job below names the grades we suggest.
Wax ribbons: TSC recommends wax for paper labels, high speeds and cost-sensitive everyday labelling.
Wax/resin ribbons for coated papers and films that need scratch and smudge resistance.
Grades TSC lists for high speeds and packaging; HS is listed by TSC Europe only, so ask us for availability.
Resin for synthetic labels exposed to oils, solvents, abrasion and heat.

TSC ribbon grades
TSC lists five grades for Asia Pacific (SWX, PWX, SWR, PWR, SRE). PRE is listed by TSC Europe and on the Printronix Auto ID Asia Pacific page; HS by TSC Europe only. TSC's web pages and datasheets use two numbering schemes for some grades, so both are shown; we confirm the exact code with your quotation.

Questions buyers ask
Both. We supply genuine TSC ribbons on request, and we can also offer our own ribbon of the same type (wax, wax/resin or resin) as an alternative. Tell us which you prefer when you ask for a quote.
TSC's web pages and its technical datasheets number some grades differently (for example, standard wax/resin is 8500 on the web pages and 8550 on its datasheet). The three-letter code, such as SWR, is the same everywhere; we confirm the exact code with your quotation.
TSC makes ribbons coated side out and coated side in, and TSC notes that most printers are designed for only one of them. The TSC MB241, MH241 and ML241P take both, as their pages show; tell us your printer model and we will quote the right winding.
TSC recommends a ribbon slightly wider than the label, by about 3-5 mm, so the ribbon protects the printhead. Shorter rolls suit desktop printers and longer rolls industrial printers; a 1-inch core is standard and smaller printers often take a 0.5-inch core.
