Why the ZT620

6-inch labels for lines that run 24/7

The ZT620 is the 6-inch model in Zebra's ZT6 Series (called the ZT600 Series in older Zebra documents), alongside the 4-inch ZT610. Zebra names it as the successor to the 220Xi4, and its RFID version prints and encodes UHF tags in one pass.

6-inch labels at 12 ips

Prints up to 168 mm wide at up to 305 mm/s (12 ips) at 203 dpi, or 203 mm/s (8 ips) at 300 dpi, on media from 51 mm to 180 mm wide.

RFID fitted at the factory or in the field

The RFID encoder handles UHF EPC Gen 2 V2.1, ISO/IEC 18000-63 and RAIN RFID tags; Zebra says the field upgrade takes about five minutes. It supports chip-based serialization and block permalocking of user memory to ATA Spec 2000.

Gigabit Ethernet for busy networks

Gigabit Ethernet comes standard on the ZT620, with USB 2.0, RS-232 serial, Bluetooth 4.1, two front USB Host ports and an NFC tag; 1 GB RAM and 2 GB flash hold formats and fonts. Wi-Fi 6 with Bluetooth 5.3, parallel, Ethernet or applicator cards fit its two open slots.

Metal build for 24/7 duty

It has a metal frame and a bi-fold metal media cover with a clear window, and weighs 26 kg. Zebra builds the ZT6 Series for 24/7 operation; it is rated to 40 °C and 20-85% humidity, non-condensing.

Colour touch display

Current ZT620 models have a 4.3-inch colour touch display as standard, with icon menus, colour-lit media and ribbon paths, and on-board help and diagnostics for routine troubleshooting.

One ribbon for about three media rolls

Media rolls up to 203 mm across on a 76 mm core; Zebra gives a 3:1 media roll to ribbon ratio, so one 450 m ribbon serves about three full rolls. An internal full-roll rewinder and a guillotine cutter with catch tray are options.

Used in

  • FMCG, 3PL and e-commerce warehouses (carton and pallet labels)
  • Auto-component and engineering plants
  • Pharma and chemical plants (drum and bulk-pack labels)
  • Apparel and retail distribution (RFID tags)
  • Manufacturing: work-in-process and asset labels
  • Retail distribution centres

For buyers in India

Using the ZT620 in India

These are the points buyers in India ask us about the ZT620. Mention the ones that apply to you when you request a quote.

ZT620 RFID: the country code may be fixed

Confirm the India setting before ordering a ZT620 for RFID: Zebra's guides say the RFID country code is set at first start-up according to the region the printer was built for, and in some cases cannot be changed. The ZT620's RFID encoder works with UHF EPC Gen 2 V2.1, ISO/IEC 18000-63 and RAIN RFID tags; use tags for India's 865-868 MHz UHF RFID band.

Rated 90-265 VAC; size any UPS above 250 W

The ZT620 has a 250 W power-factor-corrected supply rated 90-265 VAC at 47-63 Hz, so plan any UPS for it at more than 250 W.

Install the 26 kg ZT620 in an air-conditioned area

Place the ZT620 in an air-conditioned area when it is installed, because at 26 kg it is not moved easily. Zebra rates it for 5 °C to 40 °C in thermal transfer and 0 °C to 40 °C in direct thermal, at 20% to 85% humidity, non-condensing.

24/7 Reliability in the Harshest Environments

Zebra says ZT600 Series printers are built to withstand the most demanding industrial conditions, "virtually eliminating operational downtime due to printer failure", and meet your high-volume production needs, day in and day out, with "superior print quality and speed across the widest range of applications".

Micro Labels: a ZT610 Feature

Featuring highly precise registration and print line adjustment, the ZT610 offers 600 dpi printing for labels as small as 3 mm high (length) for applications like circuit boards, chips and miniature components—all without wasting expensive media due to improper printing. The ZT620 does not offer 600 dpi; for micro labels, choose the ZT610.

User-Friendly Setup, Use, Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Zebra DNA software, powered by Link-OS®, delivers what Zebra calls "unparalleled intelligence and innovation" for advanced connectivity, device management and privacy controls. User-friendly design features, including a color touch display, streamline everything from deployment to daily use to routine maintenance. Compatibility with other printing systems and technologies simplifies integration and management, while onboard sensors, diagnostics and help resources guide troubleshooting so users don’t have to call in support for every minor issue.

Highly Adaptable, Future-Ready Platforms

The last thing you need is a new piece of technology that will be obsolete in just a couple of years. That’s why the ZT600 Series was engineered with the future in mind—from an adaptable design that allows communications, media handling and other upgrades in the field, to compatibility with SOTI and AirWatch device management software, to intuitive Link-OS applications that simplify updates and reconfiguration as needed.

Exploring for a different use?

If your job differs from what the ZT620 is built for, these Zebra models may fit it better:

  • Buyers who print 6-inch labels in a typical warehouse or packing line rather than a non-stop line often look at the Zebra ZT421 (up to 168 mm print width, 10/100 Ethernet).
  • Buyers who only print labels up to 4 inches wide, or need 600 dpi micro labels, often look at the Zebra ZT610 (the same ZT6 Series build, 203, 300 or 600 dpi).

Questions buyers ask

ZT620 FAQ

What is the price of the Zebra ZT620 in India?

The ZT620 price depends on the resolution you choose (203 or 300 dpi), the options you add and the quantity. We can quote the labels and ribbon with it. Ask our team for today's competitive price: share your requirement and budget, and we will help you choose the right configuration and send a written quotation with current pricing and delivery time.

We run a Zebra 220Xi4. Is the ZT620 its replacement?

Zebra's support page lists the 220Xi4 as end of sale from 27 February 2026, with support to 27 February 2031, and names the ZT620 as its successor. The 220Xi4 is an 8-inch class printer, while the ZT620 prints up to 168 mm wide on media up to 180 mm, so check your widest label first. Send us a sample label with your enquiry.

ZT620 or ZT421: which 6-inch printer should we choose?

Both print 168 mm wide at up to 305 mm/s (12 ips) at 203 dpi and take a UHF RFID encoder. The ZT620 adds Gigabit Ethernet, 1 GB RAM and 2 GB flash, in a heavier 26 kg build that Zebra designs for 24/7 use. The ZT421 is lighter at 18.14 kg and faster at 300 dpi (254 mm/s against 203 mm/s).

Can the ZT620 encode RFID tags?

Yes, as an option. The encoder handles UHF EPC Gen 2 V2.1, ISO/IEC 18000-63 and RAIN RFID tags, can be fitted at the factory or in the field, and uses Adaptive Encoding Technology so no placement charts are needed. Zebra says tags can be spaced at a pitch of 16 mm or less on most inlays.

What media and ribbon does the ZT620 take?

Labels and tags from 51 mm to 180 mm wide and 0.076 mm to 0.305 mm thick (0.18 mm with the cutter), continuous, die-cut, notched or black-mark, on rolls up to 203 mm across on a 76 mm core. Ribbons are 450 m long and 51 mm to 170 mm wide on a 25.4 mm core. Labels can be as short as 6 mm in rewind mode (Zebra's US tech specs).

Is there a 600 dpi ZT620?

No. Zebra offers the ZT620 at 203 dpi and 300 dpi. The 600 dpi printhead and the micro label version are available only on the 4-inch ZT610, which prints up to 104 mm wide. For very small, high-resolution labels, look at the ZT610.

Can Allmark install the ZT620 and connect it to our software?

Yes. We install the ZT620 at your site, connect it so your ERP, warehouse or billing software prints to it (our own warehouse management system included) and train the people who use it. Tell us the software when you ask for a quote, and we include the setup in the quotation.
