Newland HR11 Plus corded 1D handheld barcode scanner, black housing, scan window and trigger

Why the HR11 Plus

A corded 1D scanner for counters that bill printed barcodes

The HR11 Plus (model NLS-HR11 Plus) is Newland's corded 1D handheld scanner, with a product page and datasheet under this name on Newland's India and Asia site. A 2500-pixel linear imager reads printed 1D barcodes and 1D barcodes shown on a phone screen, and one scanner connects to a PC or POS by USB or RS-232. Newland names the HR11 Plus as the replacement for two older models: the HR12 Anchoa (HR1250, end of life 31 March 2025) and the HR1550 (end of life 10 March 2022). It does not read QR codes: for UPI or GST e-invoice QR codes choose a 2D scanner such as the HR2000.

Everyday 1D codes at the counter

The 2500-pixel linear imager reads the 1D codes a shop sees every day: EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 128, GS1-128, GS1 DataBar, Code 39, Interleaved 2 of 5 and more, down to 3 mil. Newland rates a 13 mil EAN-13 from 40 mm to 480 mm, so staff can scan a pack on the counter without lifting it to the window.

Paper labels and phone screens

Newland optimises the HR11 Plus for barcodes printed on paper or displayed on a screen, so it suits counters that check 1D codes on mobile tickets, coupons and loyalty cards as well as printed labels. It reads 1D codes only; a QR code on a phone needs a 2D scanner.

A wide reading line

The horizontal field of view is 53° ±2°. By our calculation that line is about 10 cm wide at 10 cm from the scanner (2 × 100 × tan 26.5° = 99.7 mm), and it tolerates a code tilted up to ±60° (pitch) or ±70° (skew), so long carton and courier codes read without careful lining up.

USB or RS-232 from one scanner

Change the cable, not the scanner. On USB it works as a keyboard (USB HID-KBW, no driver), a virtual COM port (USB COM port emulation, with a driver), HID-POS or IBM SurePOS. With an RS-232 cable it connects to a serial port on an older billing machine or POS; that cable has a DC socket for a power adapter.

Built for daily handling

Newland seals the housing to IP42 and rates it for 1.5 m drops to concrete. At 120 g it is 17 g lighter than the HR2000, and it works from -20 °C to 60 °C.

Edit the data before it reaches your software

Prefixes and suffixes can be added to the scanned data, so codes arrive in the format your billing or ERP screen expects. Set it up with programming barcodes, serial commands or Newland's EasySet software.

For buyers in India

Using the HR11 Plus in India

These are the points buyers in India ask us about the HR11 Plus. Mention the ones that apply to you when you request a quote.

Reads 890 EAN-13 codes from 40 to 480 mm

Newland rates the HR11 Plus to read a standard 13 mil EAN-13 from 40 mm to 480 mm. GS1 India issues the EAN-13 product numbers that begin with 890.

1D only: choose a 2D scanner for QR codes

If your counter must read UPI or GST e-invoice QR codes, choose a 2D scanner such as the HR2000 or HR2081, because the HR11 Plus reads 1D barcodes only. UPI payment codes and GST e-invoice IRN codes are QR codes.

USB needs no adapter; RS-232 does

On USB the HR11 Plus needs no adapter; on RS-232 it does, and we confirm the adapter and plug for an RS-232 order in the quotation. Newland rates the scanner at 5 V DC, 70.4 mA typical and 96.8 mA at most, under a fifth of the 500 mA a USB 2.0 port supplies. On RS-232, Newland's user guide connects a power adapter to the cable's DC socket. Newland lists a 5 V 1.5 A adapter (AD07-DA-WW-6).

Copes with heat; keep it out of rain

Keep the HR11 Plus under cover at open counters and loading areas: the 2 in IP42 covers dripping water up to 15° from vertical, not rain. Heat is less of a concern: Newland rates it to work from -20 °C to 60 °C.

HR11 Plus FAQ

What is the price of the Newland HR11 Plus in India?

The HR11 Plus price depends on the cable or accessories you need and the quantity. Ask our team for today's competitive price: share your requirement and budget, and we will help you choose the right configuration and send a written quotation with current pricing and delivery time.

HR11 Plus or HR11 Aringa: what is the difference?

Newland's India and Asia site has a product page and datasheet for this scanner as the HR11 Plus (NLS-HR11 Plus); Newland's European site sells an HR11 Aringa. The published specifications match: 2500-pixel linear imager, 40-480 mm for a 13 mil EAN-13, 120 g, IP42 and 1.5 m drops, and Newland's European user guide for the HR11 Aringa names the HR11 Plus inside. We supply the HR11 Plus in India; this page follows Newland's India and Asia documents.

Can the HR11 Plus read QR codes like UPI or GST e-invoice?

No. The HR11 Plus is a 1D scanner: it reads line barcodes such as EAN-13, UPC, Code 128 and GS1-128, on paper or on a screen, but not QR Code, Data Matrix or other 2D codes. UPI payment codes and GST e-invoice IRN codes use QR codes. For those, choose a 2D scanner such as the Newland HR2000 or HR2081.

Will it work with our billing or ERP software?

Usually, yes. On USB the HR11 Plus can act as a keyboard, so scanned codes appear wherever the cursor is, as in most billing and ERP screens, with no driver. It can also run as a virtual COM port, HID-POS or IBM SurePOS device, or connect by RS-232, and Newland provides JPOS and OPOS drivers. Allmark sets up scanners on site; name your software when you ask for a quote.

Does the HR11 Plus need a power adapter?

Not on USB. Newland rates it at 5 V DC and 96.8 mA at most, which a standard USB port supplies. On RS-232 the cable has a DC socket and Newland's user guide connects a power adapter to it. Newland's accessory guide lists a 5 V 1.5 A adapter; tell us your connection when you ask for a quote, and we confirm the adapter and plug in the quotation.

Can it scan hands-free on the counter?

Yes, with a stand. Newland lists a gooseneck stand (NLS-STD30i) for HR11 scanners. In sense mode, set by scanning a programming barcode from the user guide, the scanner starts reading when it sees a change in light, such as a pack passing under it, so staff do not need to press the trigger. The default is manual (trigger) mode.

We used the HR12 Anchoa or HR1550. What replaces it?

Newland's India and Asia discontinued list names the HR11 Plus as the replacement for both: the HR1250 (HR12 Anchoa) reached end of life on 31 March 2025 and the HR1550 on 10 March 2022. Like the HR11 Plus they are corded 1D scanners. Tell us how the old scanner was connected (USB or RS-232) and we quote the matching cable.

Can Allmark install the HR11 Plus and connect it to our software?

Yes. We install the HR11 Plus at your site, set it to send data the way your ERP, warehouse or billing software expects (our own warehouse management system included) and train your team. Tell us the software when you ask for a quote, and we include the setup in the quotation.
