Why the HR32-BT (HR3280-BT)

A cordless scanner for counters, stock rooms and older serial systems

The HR32-BT (model NLS-HR3280-BT) is Newland's cordless 2D handheld scanner, listed under this name on Newland's India and Asia site. It pairs over Bluetooth 5.0 with its CD32 cradle, which charges the scanner and connects to your PC, POS or machine by USB or RS-232. Newland lists two more versions of the same scanner: the corded HR32 (NLS-HR3280) and the HR32-BT-SD (NLS-HR3280-BT-SD), which uses its own SD32 charging cradle and a USB interface.

Small and dense codes

A 1280 × 800 pixel sensor reads 1D and 2D codes such as QR Code, Data Matrix and PDF417 down to 3 mil, at 25% minimum symbol contrast. Newland rates a 13 mil EAN-13 from 50 mm to 495 mm, so staff can scan a carton on the trolley without lifting it to the counter.

White or red light, set to the workplace

The scanner has both white and red LEDs (622-628 nm) and can be set to either, to suit bright counters, dim stock rooms or staff who scan all day. A green LED aimer shows where the scanner is pointing.

Walk away from the counter

Bluetooth 5.0 with a stated range of 50 m (164 ft) in direct line of sight in open air. Walls, racks and metal shelving shorten that, so tell us your floor layout when you ask for a quote.

No lost scans out of range

The scanner holds at least 15,000 Code 128 codes of 20 bytes each. Newland's user guide gives two batch options: automatic batch stores scans only while out of range and sends them when the scanner returns; manual batch stores every scan until you press the Batch button on the cradle or scan a transmit barcode.

USB or RS-232 from one cradle

The CD32 cradle has an RJ45 data port. With a USB cable it works as a USB keyboard, a virtual COM port (USB CDC) or HID POS; with an RS-232 cable it connects straight to a serial port on a PC, POS or machine. The scanner can also pair directly with a computer, tablet or phone in Bluetooth HID mode.

Cold rooms and hot stores

Newland rates the HR32-BT to work from -20 °C to 60 °C, a wider range than the -10 °C to 50 °C of its HR3000-BT and HR2000-BT. The scanner is sealed to IP42 and rated for 1.5 m drops; the cradle is rated for 1 m drops.

Using the HR32-BT (HR3280-BT) in India

These are the points buyers in India ask us about the HR32-BT (HR3280-BT). Mention the ones that apply to you when you request a quote.

Reads QR, Data Matrix and 890 barcodes

The HR32-BT reads the 890-prefix EAN-13 product numbers that GS1 India issues as well as 2D codes. Newland lists QR Code, Data Matrix, UCC/EAN-128 (GS1-128) and GS1 DataBar for the HR32-BT, and rates a 13 mil EAN-13 from 50 mm to 495 mm.

Hold it 18 cm above a GST e-invoice QR

Hold the HR32-BT roughly 18 cm or more above a GST e-invoice to fit the whole IRN QR code in its 24° vertical view. Checking the signed invoice is done by your software, not by the scanner.

A full 8-hour shift on one charge

One HR32-BT charge covers an 8-hour shift; for two shifts (16 hours), put the scanner back in the cradle at the break. Newland rates the battery for 12 hours at one scan every 6 seconds: 12 × 3,600 ÷ 6 = 7,200 scans a charge, which leaves 4 hours to spare on one shift at that pace. A full charge takes 4 hours. Out of range, batch memory holds at least 15,000 scans, more than twice what one charge gives at that pace.

Charge it away from heat and the cold room

Keep the HR32-BT's cradle away from open shutters, glass fronts and direct sun, and outside the cold room, because its battery charges only between 0 °C and 45 °C. The scanner works from -20 °C to 60 °C and in 5-95% humidity, non-condensing. The 2 in IP42 covers dripping water up to 15° from vertical, not rain, so keep it under cover at loading bays.

Its cradle connects to serial billing systems

If your billing system or machine reads data on a serial port, the HR32-BT cradle connects to it directly by RS-232 cable. On Newland's India and Asia site the HR3000-BT and HR2000-BT list USB as their only interface. The cradle runs on 5 V DC ±5% from a power adapter. Newland's accessory guide lists a 5 V, 1.5 A adapter (5 × 1.5 = 7.5 W) with American, European and British plugs, and plug kits for Korea and Australia, none for India. Ask us to confirm the adapter and plug for your order in the quotation.

Questions buyers ask

HR32-BT (HR3280-BT) FAQ

What is the price of the Newland HR32-BT (HR3280-BT) in India?

The HR32-BT (HR3280-BT) price depends on the cable or accessories you need and the quantity. Ask our team for today's competitive price: share your requirement and budget, and we will help you choose the right configuration and send a written quotation with current pricing and delivery time.

HR32-BT or HR3000-BT?

Both are current Newland cordless 2D scanners with a 1280 × 800 sensor. The HR3000-BT has double the stated Bluetooth range (100 m against 50 m), a larger replaceable 2,600 mAh battery, IP52 sealing and reads codes down to 15% contrast. The HR32-BT cradle connects by RS-232 as well as USB, the scanner works from -20 °C to 60 °C against -10 °C to 50 °C, charges in 4 hours against 6, and switches between white and red light.

Which HR32 version do we need?

Newland lists three. The HR32-BT is cordless with the CD32 cradle, on USB or RS-232. The HR32-BT-SD is cordless with its own SD32 charging cradle and a USB interface; Newland rates it for synchronous and batch modes, -20 °C to 50 °C, and 5.5 to 7.5 hours to charge. The corded HR32 (162 g) connects by USB or RS-232 and also reads postal codes. Tell us how your counter works and we will suggest one.

Will it work with our billing or ERP software?

Usually, yes. On USB the cradle can act as a keyboard, so scans appear wherever the cursor is, as in many billing and ERP screens. It can also run as a virtual COM port or HID POS device, or connect to a serial port by RS-232, and Newland provides JPOS and OPOS drivers. Allmark sets up scanners on site and connects them to your software; name your software when you ask for a quote.

What happens if staff walk out of Bluetooth range?

The scanner holds what it reads. Newland rates the link at up to 50 m in open air, and walls, racks and metal shelving cut that down. In automatic batch mode the HR32-BT keeps at least 15,000 Code 128 codes while it is out of range and sends them when it is back near the cradle, so a count taken in a back room or godown is not lost.

Can several scanners share one cradle?

Yes. Newland's user guide says one cradle can pair with up to seven HR32-BT scanners in multi-point mode; the default is one scanner per cradle. That suits a counter where several staff scan into one PC. Each scanner still needs a powered cradle to charge, so plan charging places for the number of scanners you run.

Can it connect to a tablet or phone without the cradle?

Yes. In Bluetooth HID mode the scanner pairs directly with a computer, tablet or phone and types scans like a keyboard. A Bluetooth BLE mode is available for apps built with Newland's SDK. The scanner still charges in a powered cradle, so keep one at your base.

Can Allmark install the HR32-BT (HR3280-BT) and connect it to our software?

Yes. We install the HR32-BT (HR3280-BT) at your site, set it to send data the way your ERP, warehouse or billing software expects (our own warehouse management system included) and train your team. Tell us the software when you ask for a quote, and we include the setup in the quotation.
