Why the LI4278
The LI4278 is Zebra's general-purpose cordless linear imager. It reads 1D barcodes, printed or shown on a screen, but it cannot read 2D codes such as QR Code, Data Matrix or PDF417; for those, Zebra's DS2278 is the cordless 1D/2D model.
The LI4278 reads UPC/EAN, Code 128 including GS1-128, Code 39, Interleaved 2 of 5, GS1 DataBar and other 1D codes, on paper labels and on phone, tablet and computer screens. It reads at 547 scans per second and tolerates 25 in. (63.5 cm) per second of motion.
A 100% (13 mil) UPC-A reads from 2.5 cm to 78.7 cm and a 200% (26 mil) UPC-A from 7.6 cm to 140 cm. A 4 mil code reads at 10.2 to 25.4 cm (Zebra gives 3 mil as the minimum resolution), and a 100 mil paper label reads beyond 6 m.
Bluetooth v2.1 Class 2 gives up to 100 m line of sight with the presentation cradle. Out of range, batch mode stores more than 500 UPC scans and sends them when the scanner returns. One desktop cradle takes up to three scanners and a presentation cradle up to seven.
The replaceable 750 mAh NiMH battery gives up to 57,000 scans and 72 hours of operation per full charge. A full charge takes about 3 hours on external power and about 5 hours when the cradle is powered by the host.
Zebra rates the LI4278 for more than 100 drops from 1.5 m at room temperature and drops from 1.8 m to concrete. The gasket-sealed housing is IP53, and the charging contacts are rated for more than 250,000 cradle insertions.
The cradle connects to the host by USB, RS232, keyboard wedge or IBM RS485. Configure the scanner with 123Scan and manage it with Remote Scanner Management.

If you need to read UPI, e-invoice or API-label QR codes, choose a 2D scanner such as the DS2278: the LI4278 reads 1D barcodes only. Zebra's symbology list has no QR Code, Data Matrix or PDF417, so on a pack that carries both it reads only the 1D barcode.
A cashier can scan a heavy bag in the trolley with the LI4278: Zebra's typical range for a 100% UPC-A is 2.5 cm to 78.7 cm. A 200% code on a godown carton reads up to 140 cm away. The scanner reads the EAN-13 numbers starting with 890 that products barcoded through GS1 India carry, along with GS1-128 and GS1 DataBar used on cartons and fresh produce.
Keep the LI4278 cradle away from the shutter and direct sun; with up to 72 hours of operation per charge, the scanner can wait for the cooler hours to charge. It scans from 0 °C to 50 °C, but Zebra's reference guide lets its battery charge only between 0 °C and 40 °C, ideally 5 °C to 35 °C.
Choose from Zebra's APAC kit codes, because its LI4278 reference guide has no India-only part number. Zebra lists codes such as LI4278-TRBU0100ZAR and LI4278-PRBU2100AAR, and we confirm what each kit contains for India in your quotation. A scanner on a USB-powered cradle runs from the PC's USB port; on host power a full charge takes about 5 hours.

No. The LI4278 is a linear imager that reads 1D barcodes only, such as EAN-13, Code 128 and GS1 DataBar. It cannot read QR Code, Data Matrix or PDF417, so it will not read a UPI QR or an e-invoice QR. For those, choose a 1D/2D scanner such as the cordless DS2278 or the corded DS2208.
