Why the DS3678-SR

Roam the aisles, scan, drop it back in the cradle

The DS3678-SR is the cordless, standard-range model of Zebra's DS3600 ultra-rugged family. It talks to a cradle over Bluetooth, or straight to a host, and the cradle charges it between jobs. This page covers it within the rugged industrial scanner range, next to its corded, high-density and long-range siblings.

One cradle may serve several scanners

Zebra's guide describes multipoint-to-point pairing, in which up to seven scanners link to one cradle, on supported configurations. Where it applies, a team scanning in the same zone can share a single connection to the host instead of one cable per person; we confirm support for your cradle and firmware before quoting.

Cradle or direct Bluetooth

Pair the scanner with an STB3678 standard cradle or an IP65 FLB3678 forklift cradle, or connect it directly to a host over Bluetooth using the SPP or HID profile. The radio is Class 1, with a minimum 100 m line-of-sight range in open air.

Batching when out of range, on supported setups

Zebra's guide describes Out of Range Batch Mode, in which the scanner stores scans when it loses the link and sends them when it reconnects. It applies on supported configurations, so we check it for your cradle and host before promising it for a yard or large floor.

A battery sized for the shift

A 3,100 mAh PowerPrecision+ battery is rated by Zebra at 100,000+ scans per charge. Zebra lists up to 3 hours to charge with external power and up to 10 hours on USB power. Battery charging works at 0-40 °C, ideally 5-35 °C.

Same rugged body as the corded model

IP65 and IP68 sealing, multiple 3.0 m drops to concrete, 7,500 tumbles at 1.0 m and ±25 kV air-discharge ESD protection, at 407 g. The cordless model works from -20 °C to 50 °C.

Used in

  • Warehouses, yards and cross-dock floors
  • Manufacturing and work-in-process tracking
  • Transport and dispatch
  • Pharmaceutical and healthcare stores
  • Retail stockrooms

For buyers in India

Using the DS3678-SR in India

These are the points buyers in India ask us about the DS3678-SR. Mention the ones that apply to you when you request a quote.

Mount the cradle away from hot docks

On an open loading bay in peak summer, the DS3678-SR cradle can be outside its charging range, so mount it in a shaded or air-conditioned spot. Zebra's guide lets the battery charge at 0-40 °C, ideally 5-35 °C; the scanner itself works up to 50 °C.

Deeper freezers: choose the corded DS3608-SR

For freezers colder than -20 °C, choose the corded DS3608-SR and keep any cradle outside. The cordless DS3678-SR is rated down to -20 °C, and Zebra's charging range starts at 0 °C.

Reads pharma QR codes and 890 EAN-13 barcodes

The DS3678-SR reads QR Code, Data Matrix and the EAN-13 codes that carry GS1 India's 890 prefix, so it can scan the QR codes on pharma labels.

India & Korea code DS3678-SR0F003VZK: confirm its options

Zebra's DS36X8 reference guide lists DS3678-SR0F003VZK as the 'India & Korea' cordless SR. Confirm the exact configuration before ordering, as the guide's description of this code also mentions DL parsing and FIPS. Cradle pairing and batch features in Zebra's guide apply on supported configurations, so confirm them for this part number too. Where the host cannot power the cradle, Zebra's PWR-BGA12V50W0WW supply accepts 100-240 V AC, which covers India's 230 V mains.

Exploring for a different use?

If your job differs from what the DS3678-SR is built for, these Zebra models may fit it better:

  • Buyers who scan at one station, want nothing to charge, or work in rooms colder than -20 °C, often look at the Zebra DS3608-SR (corded, host powered, -30 °C to 50 °C).
  • Buyers who read codes as small as 3 mil on boards and components often look at the Zebra DS3678-HD (Code 128 3 mil at 5.1-7.6 cm).
  • Buyers who read rack or pallet labels from a forklift or several metres away often look at the Zebra DS3600-XR (Code 39 100 mil up to 32.0 m, near and far imagers).

Questions buyers ask

DS3678-SR FAQ

What is the price of the Zebra DS3678-SR in India?

The DS3678-SR price depends on the cable or accessories you need and the quantity. Ask our team for today's competitive price: share your requirement and budget, and we will help you choose the right configuration and send a written quotation with current pricing and delivery time.

Does the DS3678-SR need the cradle?

No. It can connect directly to a Bluetooth host using the SPP or HID profile, as Zebra's reference guide describes. The battery charges in the cradle, which Zebra says takes up to 3 hours on external power or up to 10 hours on USB power; the cradle is also the route to USB, RS232 or keyboard wedge hosts and industrial Ethernet.

How many DS3678-SR scanners can share one cradle?

Zebra's guide describes Multipoint-to-Point mode with up to seven scanners paired to one cradle, on supported configurations. We confirm it for the India SKU and your cradle firmware, and your host application must handle several scanners on one connection. Tell us how many staff will scan together.

What happens when I walk out of Bluetooth range?

Zebra's guide describes Out of Range Batch Mode, which lets the scanner store scans while the link is down and send them after it reconnects, on supported configurations. The Class 1 radio has a minimum 100 m line-of-sight range in open air; walls, racks and stock will shorten it.

Which cradle should I choose, STB3678 or FLB3678?

The STB3678 is the standard charging and Bluetooth cradle for desks and docks. The FLB3678 is IP65 sealed and has a forklift mounting plate, so it suits vehicles and wet areas. Tell us where the scanner will live and we will quote the right one.

Is the cordless model suitable for cold stores?

It is rated down to -20 °C, and Zebra gives 0 °C to 40 °C as the battery charging range, so keep the cradle outside the cold room. For rooms colder than -20 °C use the corded DS3608-SR, rated to -30 °C.

Can Allmark install the DS3678-SR and connect it to our software?

Yes. We install the DS3678-SR at your site, set it to send data the way your ERP, warehouse or billing software expects (our own warehouse management system included) and train your team. Tell us the software when you ask for a quote, and we include the setup in the quotation.
