Why the NVH220 Lophius AI
The NVH220 Lophius AI is Newland's industrial handheld for direct part marking: codes marked straight onto a part by laser or dot-peen. Allmark supplies two versions in India: the corded high-density NLS-NVH220-V2-HD and the Bluetooth Hyper High-Density NLS-NVH220B-HHD-C(U)-IN, which works with its cradle. Newland's India and Asia site lists the scanners as the NVH220 (corded) and NVH220B (Bluetooth).
Newland rates the NVH220 for laser-etched and dot-peened DPM codes as well as printed 1D and 2D barcodes, including QR, Data Matrix, PDF417, Micro QR and Aztec.
Both India versions have Newland's AI intelligent learning. AI barcode positioning improves decoding of low-contrast codes, and intelligent learning adjusts the settings to each scene. A dual-core decoding platform speeds up image capture.
The corded NVH220-HD has red and blue direct LEDs plus a white diffuse LED, so it copes with reflective materials, curved surfaces, varied backgrounds and coloured codes. It aims with a cross laser; the Bluetooth HHD version aims with a green LED.

The Bluetooth NVH220B-HHD reads Hyper High-Density codes and works up to 150 m from its cradle in line of sight, by Newland's figure for the NVH220B. Battery details are below.
The corded NVH220-HD offers USB, RS-232 and Ethernet. The Bluetooth HHD cradle has an RJ50 connector that supports USB, RS-232 and PS/2.

Check how your parts are marked before choosing the NVH220: Newland rates it for two DPM methods, laser-etched and dot-peened marks. Newland does not list inkjet or chemical-etch marks, so trial those on your own parts before buying. India's auto-component industry has large clusters around Chennai, Pune and the Gurgaon-Manesar-Bawal belt, where some parts carry codes marked straight onto metal or plastic. The corded NVH220-HD reads Data Matrix and QR down to 3 mil (2D) and 1D codes down to 1.85 mil. For the smallest marks, ask about the Hyper High-Density Bluetooth version.
Mount the NVH220B's cradle away from furnaces, ovens, heat-treatment lines and sun-heated roof sheets: Newland gives it a charging range of 0 °C to 45 °C. Newland rates the corded NVH220-HD to work from -20 °C to 50 °C, and its Bluetooth NVH220B from 0 °C to 50 °C. Humidity is rated 5-95% non-condensing, so a scanner carried from an air-conditioned inspection room into humid coastal air should be left to clear before use.
One NVH220B charge covers two 8-hour shifts (16 hours) with an hour to spare; a third shift needs a charged spare battery, a 3-hour cradle break, a second scanner or the corded version. Newland rates the NVH220B for at least 17 hours of continuous use, or up to 60,000 scans, on one charge, with a 3-hour recharge. A line running three 8-hour shifts needs 24 hours, which one charge cannot cover. Newland's datasheets describe a removable battery and its India and Asia site lists a spare (BTY-NVH220B-33). The 150 m range is a line-of-sight figure; presses, steel racks and walls between scanner and cradle shorten it. These are Newland's NVH220B figures; confirm them for the HHD version when you order.
Connect the corded NVH220 to a standard USB 2.0 port on a PC, not to a bus-powered hub. The scanner runs on 5 V DC ±5% and draws 300 mA typically and 450 mA at most. A standard USB 2.0 port on a PC supplies up to 500 mA, so the PC can power it directly. A bus-powered USB hub gives only 100 mA a port, which is not enough. For RS-232 and Ethernet set-ups Newland lists an AC adapter rated 100-240 V input, 5 V DC 1.5 A output. That covers India's 230 V and 240 V mains. For Ethernet to a PLC, Newland also lists the NLS-EX100-IN converter box.
