The Soldier300 is Newland's larger industrial fixed-mount scanner. It is bolted above or beside a conveyor or workstation and reads 1D and 2D codes as items pass. It comes in two series, the 2-megapixel Soldier300W and the 5-megapixel Soldier300E, each with wide-field and long-distance versions.
Two sensors, five versions
The Soldier300W uses a 1920 × 1200 sensor in wide-field, standard and long-distance versions (6, 9 and 15 mm lenses). The Soldier300E uses a 2592 × 1944 sensor in wide-field and long-distance versions. The smallest 1D code it resolves ranges from 1.67 mil down to 0.613 mil, depending on the version.
Reads from 50 mm to 3 m
A liquid lens focuses automatically. The wide-field versions read from 50 mm, and the long-distance versions read out to 2,000 mm (W) or 3,000 mm (E), so one scanner can sit above tall cartons or close to a small part.
Fast-moving items
Newland rates motion tolerance at 3 m/s and minimum symbol contrast at 15%. A dual-core processor with an AI inference engine handles image processing, which helps with faded or low-contrast codes.
Lighting you can adjust
Fourteen high-intensity red LEDs with a half polariser come as standard, and the top and bottom lighting zones can be set separately. Soldier300W versions offer white, blue, ultraviolet or infrared LEDs as options, and a diffuser, full polariser and magnifier are sold as accessories.
Talks to PLCs directly
Besides RS-232, TCP/IP, UDP and FTP, it supports Profinet, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP and MELSEC/SLMP. Two trigger inputs and two outputs (good read and no read) can start a scan from a photo-eye and drive a reject gate or a stack light.
Sealed for the shop floor
The housing is sealed to IP67 and works from -20 °C to 50 °C. The cable connector turns, so the cable can leave the scanner horizontally or vertically to suit the mounting position.

Using the Soldier300 in India
These are the points buyers in India ask us about the Soldier300. Mention the ones that apply to you when you request a quote.
Sealed for dust and wash-down, not pressure jets
The Soldier300 handles cement or flour dust and wet cleaning of a packing line, but do not aim a pressure washer at it. IP67 means it is dust-tight and survives immersion in 1 m of water for 30 minutes; IP67 is not a pressure-jet rating. It is rated to work down to -20 °C, which suits chilled rooms and frozen stores that stay at or above -20 °C. Humidity is rated 5-95% non-condensing: where a cold-room door opens into humid air, mount it where moisture does not settle on the window. Newland publishes no drop or impact rating, so guard it from forklifts and falling cartons.
Measure the air near ovens before mounting
Measure the air at the mounting point before you fix the Soldier300's bracket: next to ovens, shrink tunnels, sealers or a sun-heated tin roof, it can be hotter than the weather. Newland rates the scanner to work up to 50 °C and to be stored from -40 °C to 70 °C.
Allow 1 A per Soldier300E on a 24 V supply
A cabinet 24 V supply must have 1 A spare for each Soldier300E. The scanner runs on 24 V DC. At 24 V it draws at most 333 mA (W) or 1,000 mA (E): 24 × 0.333 = 8 W and 24 × 1.0 = 24 W. Newland's AD36-DB-B adapter gives 24 V at 1.5 A (36 W) from 100-240 V AC. That covers India's 230 V and 240 V mains.
Reads at 3 m/s and drives reject gates
The Soldier300 reads codes on fast parcel, carton and bottle lines and can signal a reject arm or stack light. Its motion tolerance of 3 m/s equals 180 m per minute. Its two outputs signal good read and no read, rated 50 mA per channel and up to 30 V, enough to drive a relay for a reject arm or a stack light. Over Ethernet it speaks Profinet, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP and MELSEC/SLMP, so it can report to the line PLC without a converter.

About our product information
If your job differs from what the Soldier300 is built for, these Newland models may fit it better:
Buyers who have little space inside the machine or station often look at the
Newland Soldier180 (45 × 59.2 × 25 mm, 185 g).
Buyers who have operators who scan by hand at a bench often look at the
Newland NVH220 (corded industrial handheld, 160 g without cable, reads printed and DPM codes).
What is the price of the Newland Soldier300 in India?

Soldier300W or Soldier300E?
Both share the same IP67 housing, interfaces and 24 V power. The Soldier300W has a 2-megapixel sensor (1920 × 1200), three field versions and optional white, blue, ultraviolet or infrared lighting. The Soldier300E has a 5-megapixel sensor (2592 × 1944) that resolves finer codes, down to 0.613 mil 1D, and reads out to 3,000 mm in its long-distance version. It draws up to 1,000 mA at 24 V against 333 mA for the W.
Which field version suits our line?
Choose by distance and code size. The wide-field versions (6 mm lens) read from 50 mm and see a wider area, which suits large labels close to the scanner. The long-distance versions (15 mm lens) read from 100 mm to 2,000 mm (W) or 3,000 mm (E), which suits a scanner mounted high above cartons of different heights. Send us your code size, distance and line speed with your enquiry.
Can it send scans straight to a PLC?
Yes. The Soldier300 has a separate Ethernet connector that carries Profinet, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP and MELSEC/SLMP, as well as TCP/IP, UDP and FTP; RS-232 runs through its data connector. On the same data connector, two trigger inputs (rated up to ±30 V) accept a photo-eye or PLC signal, and two outputs report good read and no read at up to 50 mA each. Tell us your PLC model when you ask for a quote.
What power and cables does the Soldier300 need?
A 24 V DC supply that can deliver up to 333 mA (Soldier300W) or 1,000 mA (Soldier300E). Newland sells a 24 V, 1.5 A adapter (AD36-DB-B), a 3 m cable from the data connector to DB9, I/O and DC power, and a 10 m Ethernet cable. The connector turns so the cables can leave horizontally or vertically, and the housing has M3 mounting holes for the bracket. The frame ground wire must be earthed.
Soldier300 or Soldier180?
The Soldier180 is smaller and lighter (45 × 59.2 × 25 mm, 185 g), sealed to IP65, and fits inside machines and narrow stations. The Soldier300 is larger (420 g) and sealed to IP67, with 2 MP or 5 MP sensors, 3 m/s motion tolerance against 2 m/s, a lower 15% minimum contrast and a reading distance of up to 3,000 mm. Both use 24 V DC and the same industrial protocols.
