Why the LS2208
The LS2208 is Zebra's corded general-purpose laser scanner for 1D barcodes. It reads the everyday UPC and EAN codes on packs at the checkout, stock labels and library book barcodes, and plugs into most POS and PC hosts with one universal cable. It does not read QR codes; for those, look at the DS2208, which uses the same universal cables.
Zebra's spec sheet lists a 13 mil UPC from contact to 63.8 cm and a 40 mil Code 39 from 2.5 cm to 109.5 cm. High-density codes are read too, with a 5 mil Code 39 from 2.3 cm to 29.7 cm.
USB, RS232, keyboard wedge and TGCS (IBM) 46XX over RS485 are supported through Zebra's universal cables (one per host type), and the scanner holds over 90 international keyboard layouts. Advanced Data Formatting shapes the data before it reaches the host software.
Zebra lists a single-board design, a frictionless liquid polymer scan element and a scratch-resistant tempered glass exit window. It is designed to withstand multiple 1.5 m drops to concrete and 500 tumbles in a 0.5 m tumbler, and is sealed to IP30.
The cashier can rely on the Direct Decode Indicator (a blinking laser line), a beep with adjustable tone and volume, a red and green LED, or any mix of the three.
In the optional Gooseneck Intellistand the LS2208 scans hands-free, and the cashier lifts it out to scan a bulky item. Zebra's Simple Setup Experience, 123Scan and Scanner Management Service handle set-up and firmware.

If your counters already run LS2208 scanners, we service them. Log a service call with the fault and the number of units, and we tell you whether a repair or a replacement makes more sense.
The LS2208 is a 1D laser scanner, so it cannot read a UPI QR code or the QR code on a GST e-invoice. The DS2208 reads them, and Zebra states it uses the same universal cables as the LS2208.
Zebra lists 4.5-5.5 V DC host power, or an external supply at the same voltage, and 175 mA typical while scanning. Over USB it runs from the billing PC; tell us the host and we confirm the cable.

Questions buyers ask
The LS2208 price depends on the cable or accessories you need and the quantity. Ask our team for today's competitive price: share your requirement and budget, and we will help you choose the right configuration and send a written quotation with current pricing and delivery time.
Yes. On 20 October 2026 Zebra's Asia Pacific site still listed the LS2208 and its support page showed no end-of-sale notice. Zebra also lists the LS2208 among the replacements for the older LS4208.
It cannot read QR codes or other 2D codes: it is a 1D laser scanner. Zebra does not list phone screens for the LS2208, and names support for codes on phone and computer screens as a feature of the LI2208. For UPI or e-invoice QR codes, choose the DS2208.
Yes. We service LS2208 scanners already in use. Log a service call with the fault and the number of units; if a unit is not worth repairing, we suggest the current model that fits your counter.
Both are corded Zebra 1D scanners in the same body. Choose the LS2208 for printed barcodes at a steady counter. Choose the LI2208 if customers show codes on phones, if you want a longer reach (13 mil UPC to 78.7 cm against 63.8 cm), or if dust is a concern (IP42 against IP30).
Zebra states that the DS2200 Series uses the same universal cables as the LS2208, so a DS2208 can take over an LS2208's cable. For other models, tell us the cable's host end and we check it against Zebra's guide.
Yes. We install the LS2208 at your site, set it to send data the way your ERP, warehouse or billing software expects (our own warehouse management system included) and train your team. Tell us the software when you ask for a quote, and we include the setup in the quotation.
Send what you scan, where you scan it and the software it feeds; we reply with a written quotation.
