Why the HD830i+
The HD830i+ is Godex's 8-inch industrial printer. It prints 219.5 mm wide at 300 dpi, so one label can carry a full A4-width layout: product details, handling marks and large barcodes together. It has one resolution and one speed class, and it takes the same Godex printer languages and software as the 4-inch ZX1200i+ series.
12 dots/mm across 219.5 mm is 2,634 dots on every printed line. An A4-width label (210 mm) fits inside the print width, and small text stays sharp at 300 dpi. Print speed is up to 5 ips (127 mm/s); labels can be 25.4 mm to 1,500 mm long.
Godex lists the printer at 431 mm wide, 221 mm long and 224 mm high, and 11.7 kg without consumables. The label roll sits on a metal external stand behind it, which takes rolls up to 10 inches (254 mm) across.
The print mechanism is die-cast aluminium. An adjustable damper and a dancer arm help feed different label types; the printer takes continuous, gap, black-mark and punched-hole media from 0.06 to 0.25 mm thick. Godex states that the platen roller, printhead and media can be changed without tools.
A 3.2-inch colour touch screen tilts up to 15 degrees, with menus in ten languages. A calibration button at the rear sets the printer to a new label roll with a 1-2 second press.
256 MB of flash (162 MB free for user storage) and 256 MB SDRAM hold label formats, fonts and graphics. Plug a USB keyboard into the USB host port to recall and print stored labels in standalone mode, and preview a label on the screen first. A real-time clock is standard.
A cutter (up to 230 mm cutting width), a Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth BLE 5.0 combo module and a parallel port adaptor are dealer-install options. A sheet paper module is factory installed. Ribbons from 30 to 220 mm wide fit, so a 4-inch label run does not need an 8-inch ribbon.

The HD830i+ prints an A4 carton or drum label in about 2.4 s. An A4 label (210 × 297 mm) with a 3 mm gap takes that long at 5 ips, about 1,500 labels an hour of pure print time. A 300 m ribbon covers about 1,000 of them. Even at the thickest media the printer takes (0.25 mm), a full 10-inch roll on a 3-inch core holds about 184 m, some 610 A4 labels. At 11.7 kg and 431 mm wide, plus the label stand behind it, it fits a packing bench or a trolley at the end of a line.

The HD830i+ prints EAN-13 for the 890 product numbers GS1 India issues and the QR used on bulk-drug (API) labels. Godex lists EAN-13, EAN-128, ITF-14, GS1 DataBar and GS1 Composite, plus QR, Micro QR, Data Matrix and DotCode.
Keep the HD830i+ in a ventilated or cooled room in summer, and use a stabiliser where mains runs above 240 V. Godex rates the printer for 5 °C to 40 °C and 20-85% humidity, non-condensing. Its auto-switching supply takes AC 100-240 V, 50-60 Hz.

When the label is wider than a 4-inch printer can print. The HD830i+ prints 219.5 mm wide, against 104 mm on 4-inch models such as the ZX1200i+. That covers A4-width labels (210 mm) for cartons, drums and pallets with large text, handling marks and several barcodes on one label. Send your label size and a sample layout with the quote request.
Yes. Media from 102 mm wide fits, and ribbons from 30 mm wide, so a narrow ribbon can be used for narrow labels. At 5 ips a 4 × 6 inch label with a 3 mm gap takes about 1.2 s. If most of your labels are 4 inches wide, the ZX1200i+ prints up to 10 ips and suits that work better.
Labels from 102 to 254 mm wide (up to 230 mm with the cutter) and 0.06 to 0.25 mm thick, on rolls up to 254 mm (10 in) across on the external stand. No. Godex lists the HD830i+ at 300 dpi (12 dots/mm) only. At 300 dpi one dot is about 0.085 mm across, which suits small text and 2D codes on a wide label. If you need 600 dpi, it is offered on 4-inch printers such as the ZX1600i+.
