Why the ZD411
The ZD411 is the 2-inch model in Zebra's ZD400 Series. Zebra's support pages for the ZD410 and the TLP 2824 Plus both name it as the replacement.
The direct thermal model is 115 mm wide and 220 mm deep and weighs 1.0 kg, so it sits beside a billing PC, a lab bench or a packing station.
The direct thermal model needs no ribbon. The thermal transfer model takes a 74 m ribbon, 33-58 mm wide, for labels on materials that need a ribbon.
Choose 300 dpi (12 dots/mm) for small 2D codes and fine text on jewellery, electronics or specimen labels; 203 dpi prints at up to 152 mm/s (6 ips).
The ZD411 ships with USB 2.0 and USB Host; its Bluetooth Low Energy is only for the setup app. Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6 with Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 5 with Bluetooth 4.1 and RS-232 serial can be fitted in the field, and Ethernet and the Wi-Fi options also at the factory.
The ZD411-HC is a direct thermal model with a white housing, disinfectant-ready plastics, a sealed button panel, a UV-resistant housing and an IEC 60601-1 certified power supply.
ZPL II and EPL 2 (plus XML and PDF Direct; ZBI by activation key) mean label formats from a ZD410 or TLP 2824 Plus can usually be reused. Test one label first.

For MRP stickers on small packs, the 300 dpi ZD411 draws small digits more cleanly than the 203 dpi model. Ask us to set up your label format and print test labels on your roll.
For an EAN-13 close to its standard size on a 2-inch label, choose the 300 dpi ZD411 and set the bars 4 dots wide. On the 203 dpi model the nearest setting is 3 dots, which prints the code a little larger.
For 4 × 6 inch courier labels, choose a 4-inch printer such as the ZD421 or ZD230, and keep the ZD411 for price, MRP, jewellery and specimen labels. A 4 × 6 inch courier label is 101.6 mm wide, wider than the 60 mm maximum media the ZD411 takes.
The ZD411-HC can print a wristband that carries the patient's name and hospital number as text plus a barcode. It is a direct thermal model and prints wristbands and specimen labels on media up to 60 mm wide.
In hot, humid weather, put the ZD411 on an air-conditioned counter and add a UPS. Zebra rates it for 4.4 °C to 41 °C and 10% to 90% humidity, non-condensing, on a supply rated 100-240 VAC, 50-60 Hz.

Yes. Zebra's support pages name the ZD411 as the replacement for both. They show the ZD410 was discontinued on 12 July 2022 and support ended on 30 December 2025; the TLP 2824 Plus was discontinued on 27 June 2022 and support ended on 31 January 2026. The ZD411 keeps the 2-inch width and the ZPL and EPL languages. The ZD410 was direct thermal only; the ZD411 adds a thermal transfer version.
It prints up to 56 mm wide at 203 dpi (54 mm at 300 dpi) on media 15 mm to 60 mm wide. Labels can be 6.35 mm to 991 mm long, on rolls up to 127 mm across or fan-folded. For labels wider than 60 mm, look at a 4-inch model such as the ZD421 or ZD230.
Both print 2-inch labels at 203 or 300 dpi. The ZD611 is faster, at up to 203 mm/s (8 ips) against 152 mm/s (6 ips), has Ethernet built in and offers a colour touch display (on its thermal transfer and RFID models), a linerless model and an RFID model. The ZD411 suits a single counter or bench where those extras are not needed.

Zebra lists a ZD411-HC healthcare model, direct thermal only, with a white housing, plastics designed for disinfectant wipes, a sealed button panel, a UV-resistant housing and an IEC 60601-1 certified power supply. It suits specimen, pharmacy and small wristband labels. Mention the healthcare model when you ask for a quote.
Zebra describes the ZD411 as Unicode compliant with native OpenType support, and its ZPL guide documents character shaping for complex scripts. Zebra lists no Indian-script font, though. Until Zebra confirms Indian-script shaping for this model, plan either to load and test a licensed Hindi or Tamil OpenType font, or to have your label software send that text as an image. Approve a printed proof of your own label before rollout.
