Why the N7
Newland now sells the N7 as its Android 13 generation, listed on Newland's India and Asia site, with a 2.0 GHz octa-core processor, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB storage, a 4-inch screen above 29 physical keys, a 13 MP camera, Bluetooth 5.0 and a hot-swap 5,100 mAh battery. This page describes that current N7; the earlier N7 shown here before ran Android 10 on a 1.8 GHz Qualcomm processor, with an 8 MP camera and Bluetooth 4.2.
29 physical keys with backlight, plus three on-screen keys, sit below a 4-inch WVGA IPS screen (480 × 800) that Newland rates as visible in strong light. Staff key quantities, bin numbers and codes on real keys, which also suits gloved hands.
The 2D CMOS engine reads 1D and 2D codes from 5 mil. A 13 mil EAN-13 reads from 40 to 480 mm, a 10 mil Code 128 from 60 to 480 mm and a 15 mil QR code from 50 to 400 mm, so pickers scan shelf and carton labels without stretching.
Newland also lists an N7 Near & Far version with two 2D scan engines side by side. It reads a 100 mil Code 39 from 50 to 600 cm and a 55 mil QR code from 25 to 300 cm, for rack labels a picker cannot reach. Tell us your label sizes and distances and we will say which version fits.
The 3.8 V, 5,100 mAh battery (19.38 Wh, part NLS-BTY70) supports hot swap, so a worker can fit a charged spare without stopping the shift. A single-slot cradle charges the handheld and one spare battery together, and a 4-slot cradle charges four spares.
IP65 sealing, 1.8 m drops to concrete with two drops on each of six sides, and work from -20 °C to 50 °C. Newland says it works in pouring water and with gloved fingers. A clip-on pistol grip trigger (NLS-PGN7-02) and a shoulder and belt holster are offered.
Newland's N7 Cold Storage version works from -30 °C, has lens heating for freezing and refrigerated rooms and a battery designed for cold storage. Newland states it does not fog or frost when staff move in and out of the cold room, which matters for frozen-food and pharma stores.
A 2.0 GHz octa-core processor with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage, microSD up to 128 GB, 4G with two nano-SIM slots (or one SIM and a microSD card), dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi with fast roaming, Bluetooth 5.0 with LE, GPS, A-GPS, BeiDou, GLONASS and Galileo, and 13.56 MHz NFC.

These are the points buyers in India ask us about the N7. Mention the ones that apply to you when you request a quote.
The N7 should work on the 4G data networks of Jio, Airtel and Vi, but Newland lists no 5G radio and does not list VoLTE. Confirm the India version's bands before ordering. Newland's band list for the N7 is FDD-LTE 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20 and 28, and TDD-LTE 38, 39, 40 and 41. Jio's 4G runs on bands 3, 5 and 40, and Airtel's on 1, 3, 8 and 40, with 5 in some circles. Vi's runs on 1, 3, 8, 40 and 41. Every one of those is on Newland's list.
When an e-way bill label is torn or will not scan, staff can key its 12-digit number on the N7's 29-key keypad. They press physical keys, not an on-screen keyboard. The N7 reads QR Code, PDF417, Data Matrix, Code 128 and UCC/EAN-128, with a 15 mil QR read from 50 to 400 mm.
Keep the N7 out of puddles and drains: IP65 means protection against water jets, and it is not rated for immersion, though rain on an open dock is within the rating. The N7 works up to 50 °C, is stored from -40 °C to 70 °C and is rated for 5-95% humidity, non-condensing: after a cold store or an air-conditioned van, let it warm up before working in humid air.
Newland publishes no runtime for the N7, so plan shift lengths on your own trial; hot swap lets a worker change batteries without closing apps. The battery stores 3.8 V × 5,100 mAh = 19.38 Wh, the figure Newland prints for its NLS-BTY70 spare battery. The adapter takes 100-240 V AC at 50-60 Hz, which covers India's 230 V and 240 V mains. For India, Newland lists an India-plug adaptor (AD18-U-I, 9 V, 2 A).

Excellent grip, rugged and durable
Designed for logistics, warehouse, and other industrial fields, the device features a custom 29-button layout and an ergonomic pistol grip, making it easy to hold. It has an IP65 protection grade, can withstand a free drop of up to 1.8m to concrete (2 times at each surface), and can function normally even in pouring water situations with gloved fingers.
High accuracy medium range identification
The device is equipped with a 2D CMOS scan engine for medium-range scanning, reading codes from 5 mil. The device also has a 13-megapixel camera with a high dynamic LED light, enabling clear photos to be captured anytime and anywhere.
Octa-core platform, Android 13
The device uses an octa-core processor with a main frequency of 2.0GHz and runs on the Android 13 operating system. This combination provides faster data processing and smoother operation.
Type-C port WIFI ac band
The device uses the mainstream Type-C fast charging port, providing charging power of up to 15W, capable of fully charging the 5100mAh battery within 3 hours. It supports the 802.11ac band and the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band, offering a faster transmission rate and better support for WIFI roaming.

They are the same handheld. The N7 Lite we supply is Newland's current N7, as listed on Newland's India and Asia site: Android 13, a 2.0 GHz octa-core processor, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB storage, 29 keys, a 4-inch screen and a hot-swap 5,100 mAh battery. Earlier units ran Android 10; if you are adding to a fleet of those, make sure your app runs on Android 13 before you order in volume.
Both are Newland keypad handhelds with a 4-inch screen, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB storage, 4G and a hot-swap battery. Choose the N7 for a pistol-grip body with 29 keys, a 5,100 mAh battery, 1.8 m drop rating and the Cold Storage or Near & Far versions; it weighs 380 g. Choose the MT67 for a lighter 250 g handheld with 24 keys, Android 15 and an optional IP67 version.
Newland does not list VoLTE for the N7, and Jio runs its voice calls over VoLTE. For 4G data the N7 should work on Jio, Airtel and Vi, because Newland's band list includes the 4G bands all three use. If drivers or pickers must phone customers on a Jio SIM, ask us to confirm VoLTE on the version we quote before you order.
