Why the Voyager 1250g
The Voyager 1250g is Honeywell's single-line laser scanner for 1D barcodes. It is a light, corded handheld that suits counters and stockrooms scanning printed product labels, where every code is a linear barcode and the job is simply to read it first time.
Honeywell rates the 1250g to read 13 mil barcodes from contact to 446 mm, and larger barcodes up to 584 mm (23 in). A cashier can scan a heavy item at the bottom of a trolley, or a box on a high shelf, without lifting it.
The scanner detects the interface by itself when you plug in the cable: USB (keyboard, serial or IBM OEM), RS-232, RS-232C or keyboard wedge, and IBM RS-485 through an adapter cable. No programming barcodes to scan at installation.
Honeywell built it for fast reading of linear barcodes, including poorly printed and damaged ones. Fewer codes typed in by hand means fewer billing mistakes and a shorter queue.
On a stand the 1250g detects that it is in the stand and switches to presentation scanning, with object detection, so staff can hold the item with both hands. Honeywell offers kits with and without a flex-neck stand.
With CodeGate the user aims first and the scanner sends the code only when the trigger is pulled, so the right code is picked from a sheet of many. That suits counters that scan from printed barcode menus.
It weighs 133 g, draws 700 mW at 5 V, is designed for 30 drops to concrete from 1.5 m and is sealed to IP41. Allmark sets it up with your billing, POS or ERP software.

The 1250g reads GS1 India product barcodes at a distance, so staff can scan a pack lying on the counter or in a trolley without picking it up. Barcodes that start with 890 are EAN-13 numbers issued by GS1 India. They are 1D codes, which the 1250g reads. Honeywell rates the 1250g to read 13 mil codes from contact to 446 mm.
If your counter must read e-invoice or other QR codes, order an area imager such as the Voyager XP 1470g instead of the 1250g. Honeywell lists the 1250g for 1D and GS1 DataBar codes only.
In hot, open shops, keep the 1250g's counter shaded, or choose the 1470g or Ultra 1960, which Honeywell rates to 50 °C. The 1250g is rated to work from 0 °C to 40 °C.

No. Honeywell lists the 1250g for standard 1D barcodes and GS1 DataBar only; it is a single-line laser scanner, not an imager. If your counter needs QR codes, such as those on GST e-invoices, choose an area imager like the Voyager XP 1470g or the Xenon Ultra 1960. Send us a photo of your labels and we will tell you which one fits.
It depends on the bar width. In Honeywell's typical tests a 13 mil barcode, the usual size of a retail EAN or UPC, reads from contact to 446 mm, a 10.4 mil code from 9 mm to 369 mm and a small 5 mil code from 57 mm to 139 mm. Honeywell states that larger barcodes read up to 584 mm (23 in). Print quality and lighting affect these figures.
The 1250g connects over USB as a keyboard, USB serial or IBM OEM device, over RS-232 or as a keyboard wedge, and to IBM RS-485 terminals through an adapter cable. It is sealed to IP41 and works from 0 °C to 40 °C. That suits a normal shop counter or stockroom; IP41 is not designed for wash-down, heavy dust or rain. For hot open counters, look at the Voyager XP 1470g or Xenon Ultra 1960, rated to 50 °C and sealed to IP52.
