Why the DS3678-HP
The DS3678-HP is the cordless high-performance model in Zebra's DS3600 ultra-rugged line, and the one Zebra pictures on its HP product page. 'HP' stands for High Performance: a mid-range imager that also takes photos and documents, not a high-power scanner. It pairs with a cradle over Bluetooth, which also charges it.
Zebra's product page lists proof of pickup and delivery, picking and packing, shipping and receiving and work in progress as uses. With the HP, a walking user can scan a code and also capture a photo, a signature or a document with the same handheld.
Besides 1D and 2D codes, Zebra lists OCR-A/B, MICR-E13B and US currency serial numbers. Zebra's Intelligent Document Capture firmware can frame a document around an anchor barcode or a printed border; the guide says it applies to the HP configuration only.
Pair with an STB3678 standard cradle or an IP65 FLB3678 forklift cradle, or connect straight to a Bluetooth host using the SPP or HID profile. The radio is Class 1 (Bluetooth 4.0 LE), with a minimum of 100 m line of sight in open air and 10 m for Class 2.
Zebra's spec sheet says 100,000+ scans per charge, while its reference guide says up to 70,000 for the HP, so plan on the lower figure until confirmed. Zebra lists charging in up to 3 hours on external power or up to 10 hours on USB power, at 0-40 °C.
IP65 and IP68, multiple 3.0 m drops to concrete at room temperature, 2.4 m drops from -20 °C to 50 °C, and 7,500 tumbles at 1.0 m. The cordless scanner weighs 411 g.

In May and June, place the DS3678-HP cradle in shade or an air-conditioned room, not on an open loading bay. Zebra's guide charges the battery at 0-40 °C, ideally 5-35 °C; the scanner itself works to 50 °C.
Confirm exactly which configuration is supplied before ordering DS3678-HP2F003VZK, Zebra's 'India & Korea' cordless HP code. Zebra's DS36X8 guide lists it next to a keypad-and-display code, DS3678-HP2F003VKK. The guide's description of the VZK code says 'Extended Range' where its worldwide twin says 'High Performance'.
With one cordless DS3678-HP, a driver or loader can scan the e-way bill QR and capture a paper delivery note as an image. It reads QR Code, and Zebra lists proof of pickup and delivery as an HP use.
The DS3678-HP reads the symbologies on Indian medicine packs: UPC/EAN, GS1 DataBar, QR Code and Data Matrix, including EAN-13 codes starting 890, the prefix assigned to GS1 India.
Keep the DS3678-HP cradle outside the cold room, and use the corded DS3608-HP, rated to -30 °C, where the scanner must stay inside. The cordless HP is rated to -20 °C, and its battery charging range starts at 0 °C.

No. HP means High Performance in Zebra's DS3600 range. It is a mid-range imager with a 1,280 × 960 sensor that reads 1D and 2D codes and captures photos, signatures, OCR data and documents. Zebra lists a 20 mil Code 128 from 12.7 cm to 114.3 cm. For tiny codes the HD is the better pick; for long reach, the XR.
Yes for scanning: it can pair directly with a Bluetooth host over the SPP or HID profile, as Zebra's guide describes. The battery still charges through the cradle, which Zebra rates at up to 3 hours on external power or up to 10 hours on USB power. The cradle is also the route to USB, RS232, keyboard wedge and industrial Ethernet hosts (Zebra's Network Connect uses a separate EA3600 adapter).
Zebra's spec sheet says 100,000+ scans per charge for the 3,100 mAh battery, but its reference guide says up to 70,000 for the HP. Real life depends on image capture, Bluetooth distance and temperature. Tell us your scans per shift and we will help you size the number of spare batteries.
The SR reads barcodes only, closer in, from 4.4 cm on a 40 mil code. The HP adds photo, signature, OCR and document capture and reads a 40 mil Code 128 out to 203.2 cm, but Zebra's table starts a 5 mil code at 15.2 cm and a 40 mil code at 7.1 cm, so the HP does not read as close in as the SR. Choose the HP when staff capture documents or photos with the scan.
Zebra's DS36X8 reference guide (October 2025) lists DS3678-HP2F003VZK as the 'India & Korea' cordless HP, and DS3678-HP2F003VKK for the keypad-and-display version. The guide describes the VZK code as 'Extended Range', so we confirm the configuration with the distributor, along with the cradle and power supply, before quoting.
