Quick answer

Three questions decide it

1. Receipts, or labels on a liner?

The ZQ310 Plus and ZQ320 Plus take receipt paper and linerless labels; a gap sensor is an option. For die-cut labels and tags on a liner, choose the ZQ511 / ZQ521 or the ZQ600 Plus. Both also print receipts.

2. How wide is your receipt or label?

2-inch (48 mm print width): ZQ310 Plus or ZQ610 Plus. 3-inch (72 mm): ZQ320 Plus, ZQ511 or ZQ620 Plus. 4-inch (104 mm): ZQ521 or ZQ630 Plus. A 4 × 6 inch courier label needs a 4-inch model.

3. How rough is the job?

All three are sealed to IP54. The ZQ300 Plus is tested for 1.5 m drops and the ZQ600 Plus for 1.52 m (1.83 m on the ZQ630 Plus). The ZQ511 and ZQ521 take multiple 2 m drops to concrete, and with the optional exoskeleton 3 m drops and IP65. They also work up to 55 °C, against 50 °C for the other two.

No ribbon on any of them

All three series print direct thermal only. You buy direct thermal paper rolls or labels and nothing else.

Which model for which job

Start from the job your staff do

Each job below names which of the ZQ310 Plus / ZQ320 Plus, ZQ511 / ZQ521 and ZQ600 Plus Series suits it.

Van sales and route invoices

The ZQ310 Plus and ZQ320 Plus weigh 0.37 kg and 0.43 kg with the battery. In line mode print length has no limit, so a long invoice prints as one strip, and a billing app can add a UPI payment QR. For rougher routes, the 3-inch ZQ511 also prints receipts.

What does each step up add?

What each step up adds

ZQ300 Plus or ZQ600 Plus?

Both come in 2- and 3-inch widths. The ZQ600 Plus adds die-cut labels and tags on a liner, peel and present, a colour display, Wi-Fi 6 with Bluetooth 5.3, a serial port, Ethernet through the cradle, and a 4-inch model. It has a bigger battery (3,250 against 2,280 mAh) and prints a little faster (115 against 100 mm/s). The ZQ300 Plus is much lighter: 0.37 kg against 0.6 kg in 2-inch, 0.43 kg against 0.73 kg in 3-inch. For receipts and linerless labels, the ZQ300 Plus does the job.

ZQ600 Plus or ZQ511 / ZQ521?

The ZQ511 and ZQ521 are built tougher: multiple 2 m drops to concrete, IP65 and 3 m drops with the exoskeleton, and work up to 55 °C. They print up to 127 mm/s in draft mode and take a 6,500 mAh extended battery. The ZQ600 Plus adds a 2-inch model, a colour display and peel and present. Indoors, in a store or warehouse, the ZQ600 Plus fits; outdoors in rain and heat, the ZQ511 / ZQ521.

3-inch or 4-inch?

Go by your widest label. The 3-inch models print 72 mm wide and weigh less. The 4-inch ZQ521 and ZQ630 Plus print 104 mm wide, which fits 4 × 6 inch courier labels.

For buyers in India

Heat, rain, GST invoices and van power

Hot days: they print, but charge indoors

The ZQ300 Plus and ZQ600 Plus work up to 50 °C and the ZQ511 / ZQ521 up to 55 °C. All three charge only between 0 °C and 40 °C, so on a hot day the battery will not charge in a parked van. Charge batteries indoors. Keep direct thermal labels indoors too: Zebra notes they slowly lose legibility in high heat or sunlight.

IP54 or IP65 for the monsoon

All three are IP54: dust cannot get in enough to stop the printer, and splashing water from any direction is kept out. Zebra suggests IP54 for brief, light rain. Only the ZQ511 / ZQ521 reach IP65 (dust-tight, protected against water jets) with the exoskeleton, which Zebra suggests for continuous driving rain.

GST e-invoice and UPI QR codes

All three print QR codes, including the QR on GST e-invoices. A route-sales app can also print a UPI payment QR on the receipt.

Power in vans and trucks

The ZQ300 Plus has a cigarette lighter adapter. Zebra lists a 12-24 V DC vehicle power supply for the ZQ511 / ZQ521, which suits cars, small vans and trucks. The ZQ630 Plus vehicle and forklift cradle needs 15 V to 60 V, so it suits 24 V and 48 V trucks and forklifts but not a 12 V car or small van.

Questions buyers ask

Zebra mobile printer questions

What is the price of the Zebra ZQ300 Plus, ZQ511 / ZQ521 and ZQ600 Plus in India?

It depends on the model and width, the wireless version (Bluetooth only or Wi-Fi), extras such as spare batteries, chargers or the exoskeleton, and the quantity. Ask our team for today's competitive price: share your requirement and budget, and we will help you choose the right configuration and send a written quotation with current pricing and delivery time.

Do these printers need a ribbon?

No. All three series print direct thermal only, so you need direct thermal paper rolls or labels and no ribbon. Direct thermal prints slowly fade in high heat or sunlight, so store label stock indoors.

Which one prints labels, and which only receipts?

The ZQ310 Plus and ZQ320 Plus print receipt paper and linerless labels. The ZQ511 / ZQ521 and the ZQ600 Plus print receipts, labels with gaps or black marks, and tags. If you print die-cut labels on a liner, choose one of those two. Send us a sample label with your enquiry.

Will they connect to our Android phone or iPhone billing app?

All three have Bluetooth and work with Android and iOS devices; the ZQ300 Plus and ZQ600 Plus are MFi certified for iOS. All three accept CPCL and ZPL, so check that your app sends one of them. Each series also comes with Wi-Fi as an option. Name your app when you ask for a quote.

Which is the toughest for outdoor routes?

The ZQ511 and ZQ521. Zebra rates them for multiple 2 m drops to concrete and 1,300 tumbles from 1 m, and they work from -20 °C to 55 °C. The optional exoskeleton raises this to 3 m drops and IP65. The ZQ300 Plus and ZQ600 Plus are IP54 with drop ratings of 1.5 m to 1.83 m.

Will the battery last a full shift?

Runtime depends on how much you print; Zebra publishes no fixed runtime for the ZQ511 / ZQ521, and the other two pages give battery sizes, not hours. The ZQ300 Plus has 2,280 mAh. The ZQ511 / ZQ521 have 3,250 mAh, or an extended 6,500 mAh. The ZQ610 Plus and ZQ620 Plus have 3,250 mAh with an extended option, and the ZQ630 Plus 6,600 mAh. All are removable, so for long shifts keep a charged spare and swap it on the route.

Not sure which one? Tell us the job

Tell us what you print (receipt or label, and its size), where your staff carry the printer, and which app or handheld sends the job. We will suggest the model and quote it with paper rolls or labels, batteries and chargers.
