The DS3608-HD is the corded high-density version of Zebra's DS3600 ultra-rugged family. It reads smaller codes than the standard-range DS3608-SR (Zebra lists a 3 mil Code 128 for the HD, against 5 mil on the SR sheet).
Reads codes as small as 3 mil
Zebra's typical range for a 3 mil Code 128 is 5.1 cm to 7.6 cm, and for a 5 mil PDF417 5.1 cm to 15.2 cm. The smallest code on the DS3608-SR sheet is a 5 mil Code 128, so the HD suits the tiny labels used on circuit boards and components.
A sensor and aimer for dense codes
A 1,280 × 960 sensor with a 31° × 23° field of view, two warm-white LEDs and a 655 nm laser aimer. Reach is short by design: a 20 mil Code 128 reads from 5.6 cm to 66.0 cm, so it is a close-work scanner, not a rack scanner.
Made for the production floor
Sealed to IP65 and IP68, tested for multiple 3.0 m drops to concrete at room temperature, 2.4 m drops from -30 °C to 50 °C, and 7,500 tumbles at 1.0 m. ESD protection is ±25 kV air discharge.
Powered by the host, no battery to manage
The corded model runs from the host at 4.5-5.5 V DC and draws 360 mA typical when scanning. It connects over USB, RS232 or keyboard wedge, and Zebra's Network Connect for Automation adds EtherNet/IP, PROFINET and Modbus TCP through a separate adapter.
Parse GS1 data, read several codes at once
Label Parse+ splits GS1 barcode data into fields such as lot number and expiry date. Multi-Code Data Formatting reads up to 20 barcodes with one trigger press and sends only the ones your application needs, in its order.
Set up and connected for you
Configure it with 123Scan and manage fleets with Scanner Management Service. Allmark can connect it to your MES, ERP or warehouse software, including our own warehouse management system, and install it and train your team on site.

For buyers in India
Using the DS3608-HD in India
These are the points buyers in India ask us about the DS3608-HD. Mention the ones that apply to you when you request a quote.
Reads small QR and Data Matrix codes on medicine packs
The corded DS3608-HD reads the small QR Code and Data Matrix codes on strip and vial labels, with no battery to charge. It reads a 10 mil Data Matrix from 2.5 cm to 22.9 cm, from a USB or RS232 host at an inspection or packing PC.
Corded HD works in freezers down to -30 °C
The corded DS3608-HD suits freezer stores: Zebra rates it down to -30 °C and lists coiled USB and RS232 cables marked for -30 °C. If staff move in and out of a freezer, Zebra suggests its heated scanner holder to reduce condensation on the scan window.
Works up to 50 °C in hot plant sheds
Keep the DS3608-HD out of direct sun on a machine or window ledge. Zebra rates it to work up to 50 °C and to be stored up to 70 °C.
Order DS3608-HD20003VZK, the India & Korea HD
Quote DS3608-HD20003VZK when ordering: Zebra's DS36X8 reference guide lists it as the 'India & Korea' corded HD. The scanner normally takes power from the host over USB or RS232. Cables Zebra marks '12V' need a separate 12 V supply. Zebra lists PWR-BGA12V50W0WW, rated for 100-240 V AC input, which covers India's 230 V mains.

More about the Zebra DS3608-HD
Zebra's heading for the HD model: "Unstoppable performance for high density 1D/2D barcodes."
Zebra says the DS3608-HD corded and DS3678-HD cordless scanners are ready for "one of the world’s toughest environments — the electronics manufacturing production line", with "truly unstoppable performance" to prevent the high cost of unplanned production line downtime, and "first-time every time capture" of the many types of small and high-density barcodes printed on the components in the products you make.
Corded reading of codes down to 3 mil on boards, components and small packs
Standard labels from near contact to about 1.5 m
Rack labels read at long distance, from forklifts and docks
Exploring for a different use?
If your job differs from what the DS3608-HD is built for, these Zebra models may fit it better:
Buyers who mostly read standard-size labels, some of them more than an arm's length away, often look at the
Zebra DS3608-SR (Code 128 40 mil up to 152.4 cm (HD: 20 mil up to 66 cm)).
Buyers who read marks dot-peened, etched or lasered into metal and plastic, often look at the
Zebra DS3608-DP (reads direct part marks).
Buyers who want the same high-density reading without a cable often look at the
Zebra DS3678-HD (cordless, 100,000+ scans per charge).
What is the price of the Zebra DS3608-HD in India?
The DS3608-HD price depends on the cable or accessories you need and the quantity. Ask our team for today's competitive price: share your requirement and budget,
and we will help you choose the right configuration and send a written quotation with current pricing and
delivery time.
Corded DS3608-HD or DS3608-SR: which suits our workstation?
For a fixed bench with a USB or RS232 host, choose the HD if the codes are very small: Zebra lists a 3 mil Code 128 from 5.1 cm to 7.6 cm, and the SR sheet starts at 5 mil. Choose the DS3608-SR if the same cable-connected station also scans larger labels from further away: it reads a 40 mil Code 128 up to 152.4 cm, against 66.0 cm for a 20 mil code on the HD. Both are equally rugged and run from -30 °C.
Can the DS3608-HD read dot-peen or laser-etched marks?
The HD is specified for high-density printed codes. For marks made directly on metal or plastic, such as dot peen, laser etch or chemical etch, Zebra makes a separate version, the DS3600-DP. Allmark has pages for the corded DS3608-DP and DPM models. Send us a photo of your part and its mark with your quote request.
Can the DS3608-HD send data to a PLC?
Zebra lists EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP and standard TCP/IP through its Network Connect for Automation. Zebra's guide for this uses a separate EA3600 adapter on the scanner's RS232 cable, with its own 12 V supply. Tell us your PLC make and protocol when you ask for a quotation so the right parts are included.
Which DS3600 versions does Zebra list for India?
Zebra's DS36X8 reference guide (October 2025) lists 'India & Korea' part numbers for the SR, HD, XR, DP and DPA versions, corded and cordless, and for the cordless HP. For the HD they are DS3608-HD20003VZK (corded) and DS3678-HD2F003VZK (cordless). Zebra stopped selling the ER versions in APAC on 30 June 2025 and names the XR as the replacement.
Is there a cordless DS3600-HD?
Yes, the DS3678-HD. It has the same sensor and ranges, weighs 411 g, uses a 3,100 mAh battery rated for more than 100,000 scans per charge and links to its cradle over Class 1 Bluetooth with a minimum 100 m line-of-sight range. It works from -20 °C, so the corded DS3608-HD suits colder rooms.
Can Allmark install the DS3608-HD and connect it to our software?
Yes. We install the DS3608-HD at your site, set it to send data the way your ERP, warehouse or billing software expects (our own warehouse management system included) and train your team. Tell us the software when you ask for a quote, and we include the setup in the quotation.
