Honeywell Granit XP 1990iXLR corded long-range industrial barcode scanner

Why the Granit XP 1990iXLR

Scan rack labels without a ladder

The Granit XP 1990iXLR is Honeywell's corded extended-range Granit and its named replacement for the Granit 1980i and the Granit 1280i laser scanner.

Reads high rack labels

Reads 100 mil Code 39 rack labels up to 24 m, 100 mil Data Matrix up to 11.4 m and 20 mil Code 39 up to about 5.9 m, so pickers scan top-level locations from the floor or a forklift.

Still reads close up

A near imager (1280 × 800, global shutter) and a far imager (1920 × 1080) work together: a 13 mil UPC reads from 11 mm to 2.2 m, so the same scanner handles cartons in hand.

Takes forklift-level knocks

Tested to 3 m drops (MIL-STD-810G), 20 drops from 2.4 m, 50 drops from 1.8 m across -30 °C to 50 °C, and 7,000 tumbles at 1 m. The small, recessed window resists scratches.

Sealed for dust and water

Rated IP65 and IP67 and specified from -30 °C to 50 °C (with Honeywell's industrial-grade cable), for cold rooms, loading docks and dusty plants.

Moves fast on damaged labels

Motion tolerance up to 4,500 mm/s and decoding built for damaged and low-quality labels reduce rescans. A laser aimer helps target labels far away.

Managed as a fleet

Honeywell's Scanner Management Utility and Operational Intelligence software deploy settings and report scan data. Allmark connects scanners to your WMS or ERP and trains staff on site.

Used in

  • Warehousing and 3PL
  • FMCG distribution centres
  • Cold storage
  • Auto-component plants
  • Aerospace and engineering
  • E-commerce fulfilment centres

Using the Granit XP 1990iXLR in India

These are the points buyers in India ask us about the Granit XP 1990iXLR. Mention the ones that apply to you when you request a quote.

Angle top-rack labels down for steep upward scans

For top racks, angle labels down towards the aisle or use larger labels, because looking steeply up at a label on the rack face shortens the 1990iXLR's usable range. Honeywell's ranges are measured with the scanner facing the label; the spec allows 45° pitch and 65° skew. Grade A warehouses in India typically have 10 to 12 m clear height. A label near the top of a 12 m building can be about 10.5 m from a scanner held at 1.5 m.

Order the industrial cable for freezer use

For cold-chain sites, put Honeywell's industrial-grade cable on the same order as the 1990iXLR; it is sold separately. Only with that cable is the scanner rated down to -30 °C.

Monsoon rain at an open dock is within its rating

Monsoon rain at an open dock door is within the 1990iXLR's rating: it is sealed to IP65 and IP67. Under IEC 60529, IP65 covers water jets from any direction and IP67 covers immersion up to 1 m for 30 minutes.

Exploring for a different use?

If your job differs from what the Granit XP 1990iXLR is built for, these Honeywell models may fit it better:

  • Buyers who move away from the workstation, where a cable gets in the way, often look at the Honeywell Granit XP 1991iXLR (cordless, Bluetooth 4.2, up to 50,000 scans per charge).
  • Buyers who need reach up to 30 m, or a high-density version for 2 mil codes, often look at the Honeywell Granit Ultra 2100i (XLR version: 100 mil Code 39 to 30 m; HD version: 2 mil 1D and 2D).

Questions buyers ask

Granit XP 1990iXLR FAQ

What is the price of the Honeywell Granit XP 1990iXLR in India?

The Granit XP 1990iXLR price depends on the cable or accessories you need and the quantity. Ask our team for today's competitive price: share your requirement and budget, and we will help you choose the right configuration and send a written quotation with current pricing and delivery time.

Granit 1980i or Granit XP 1990iXLR?

Honeywell lists the Granit 1980i as end of life since May 2023 and names the Granit 1990iXLR as its replacement. On Honeywell's datasheets, the 1990iXLR reads 100 mil Code 39 to 24 m (the 1980i: 16 m), reads a 13 mil UPC from 11 mm (the 1980i: from about 12 cm), and adds IP67 sealing and 7,000 tumbles instead of 5,000.

We use the Granit 1280i laser scanner. What replaces it?

Honeywell lists the Granit 1280i as end of life since December 2023 and names the Granit 1990iXLR as its replacement. The 1280i is a full-range laser that reads linear (1D) barcodes. The 1990iXLR is an area imager, so it also reads 2D codes such as QR and Data Matrix. That helps if your suppliers or customers print 2D codes on cartons or pallet labels.

How far can the 1990iXLR read?

In Honeywell's typical tests it reads 100 mil Code 39 rack labels up to 24 m, 100 mil Data Matrix up to 11.4 m, 20 mil Code 39 up to about 5.9 m and a 13 mil UPC up to about 2.2 m. Real distances depend on label size, print quality and lighting, so share your rack label size when you ask for a quote.

Can it be mounted on a forklift?

Yes. Honeywell lists a vehicle mount kit (part 1990IXLR-3-A) for this scanner. It is rated for 3 m drops and 7,000 tumbles, and for -30 °C to 50 °C when used with Honeywell's industrial-grade cable. If drivers need to move away from the truck, consider the cordless Granit XP 1991iXLR instead.

Can Allmark install the Granit XP 1990iXLR and connect it to our software?

Yes. We install the Granit XP 1990iXLR at your site, set it to send data the way your ERP, warehouse or billing software expects (our own warehouse management system included) and train your team. Tell us the software when you ask for a quote, and we include the setup in the quotation.
