Quick answer

Three questions decide it

1. How fast, and how sharp?

At 203 dpi the MH241 prints up to 14 ips, the MB241 12 ips and the ML241P 8 ips. At 300 dpi it is 12, 9 and 6 ips. Only the MH241 Series has a 600 dpi model, the MH641, at up to 6 ips.

2. How much room do you have?

The ML241P is 245 mm tall and weighs 7.7 kg; TSC designed it for racks. The MB241 is 274 mm tall and weighs 9.1 kg. The MH241 is 326 mm tall and weighs 15.60 kg, or 412 mm and 18.93 kg for the P model with its built-in rewinder.

3. What media do you run?

Tags and cards up to 0.28 mm thick need the MB241 or MH241; the ML241P takes up to 0.19 mm. The MH241 takes 600 m ribbons; the MB241 and ML241P take 450 m.

Which model for which job

Start from the label you print

Each job below names which of the MB241 Series, MH241 Series and ML241P Series suits it.

Courier and e-commerce labels (4 × 6 inch)

All three print a 4-inch-wide label. At 203 dpi, one 4 × 6 inch label with a 3 mm gap takes about 0.44 s on the MH241, 0.51 s on the MB241 and 0.76 s on the ML241P.

Consider: TSC MB241, TSC MH241, TSC ML241P

A printer in a rack or on a low shelf

The ML241P is 245 mm high, 248 mm wide and 416 mm deep, and still takes 8-inch label rolls. In a closed rack, leave space for air to move.

Consider: TSC ML241P

Thick hang tags, cards and care labels

The MB241 and MH241 take media up to 0.28 mm thick. The MH241 also lists tag and care-label media and offers a care-label cutter.

Consider: TSC MB241, TSC MH241

Very small 2D codes and fine print

The 600 dpi MH641 places a dot every 0.04 mm, for small codes on small containers. It prints at up to 6 ips.

Consider: TSC MH241

Rewinding printed labels onto a roll

The MH241 P models have an 8-inch full-roll rewinder built in. The MB241 and the standard MH241 take a 5-inch internal rewinder kit.

Consider: TSC MB241, TSC MH241

RFID or linerless labels

Only the MB241 lists RFID and linerless kits, each in tear-off and cutter versions. With the RFID kit, TSC lists on-metal RFID media up to 1.65 mm thick.

Side by side

MB241, MH241 and ML241P side by side

For labels all day, choose the MH241, the only one of the three offered at 600 dpi. For a tight bench choose the MB241, and for racks with little headroom the ML241P.

What does the bigger model add?

What you gain moving between models

ML241P or MB241?

The MB241 prints faster (12 against 8 ips at 203 dpi, 9 against 6 at 300 dpi), takes thicker media (0.28 mm against 0.19 mm), has twice the memory, offers a touch-screen model, and takes rewinder, RFID and linerless kits and a GPIO option. The ML241P is lower (245 mm against 274 mm) and lighter (7.7 kg against 9.1 kg). If it must fit in a rack, choose the ML241P.

MB241 or MH241?

The MH241 prints faster (14 against 12 ips at 203 dpi, 12 against 9 at 300 dpi), comes in 600 dpi, takes 600 m ribbons instead of 450 m, and has 512 MB of flash with a microSD slot up to 32 GB. It also offers a full-roll rewinder (P models), GPIO with parallel as a factory option, and heavy-duty and care-label cutters. The MB241 is smaller and lighter (274 mm and 9.1 kg against 326 mm and 15.60 kg), takes media up to 120 mm wide against 114 mm, and is the one with RFID and linerless kits.

203, 300 or 600 dpi?

The 203 dpi models are the fastest in each series and suit shipping, carton and pallet labels. The 300 dpi models print sharper small text and 2D codes. TSC positions 600 dpi, on the MH641 only, for very small 2D barcodes, graphics and fine print. If unsure, send us a sample label.

For buyers in India

Heat, power and Indian label rules

Hot rooms

TSC rates all three for 0 °C to 40 °C at 25-85% humidity, non-condensing. A dock or plant without cooling can pass the rating, and a closed rack can be warmer than the room. Keep the printer in a ventilated or cooled space.

Indian mains

All three take AC 100-240 V, 50-60 Hz, which covers India's 230 V and 240 V mains on the 50 Hz grid. Use a stabiliser or UPS where mains runs high.

MRP and net-quantity figures

All three series print MRP and net-quantity figures at 203 or 300 dpi; for the smallest figures, choose the 600 dpi MH641.

QR codes on bulk-drug labels

All three print QR code and Data Matrix, including the QR code on bulk-drug (API) labels. For drums and bags that need both small and large labels, the MB241 and MH241 take media from 20 mm wide and up to 0.28 mm thick.

Questions buyers ask

MB241 vs MH241 vs ML241P questions

What is the price of the TSC MB241, MH241 and ML241P in India?

It depends on the model and resolution, the build (standard, touch screen or rewinder), options such as a cutter, rewinder or Wi-Fi, and the quantity. Ask our team for today's competitive price: share your requirement and budget, and we will help you choose the right configuration and send a written quotation with current pricing and delivery time.

Which one replaces our ME240 or MH240?

For the ME240, the MB241 or the ML241P. TSC India lists the ME240 Series as no longer sold since December 2020, with support ended in December 2025; it named the MB240 and ML240 as replacements, and those are now replaced by the MB241 and ML241P. For the MH240, the MH241. TSC India lists the MH240 Series as no longer sold since December 2021, with support until December 2026.

Will our ZPL or EPL label formats work?

Which one prints on thick tags?

The MB241 and MH241 take media from 0.06 to 0.28 mm thick. The ML241P takes up to 0.19 mm, so thicker hang tags and cards need one of the other two. Send a sample of your tag with your quote request.

Do they use the same labels and ribbons?

All three take 8-inch (203.2 mm) label rolls, and all three wind their ribbons on a 1-inch core. The MB241 and ML241P take 450 m ribbons 40-110 mm wide. The MH241 takes 600 m ribbons 25.4-114.3 mm wide. Media width runs from 20 mm up to 120 mm on the MB241, 118 mm on the ML241P and 114 mm on the MH241.
